so... anyone try the DLC yet?

The idea of squad based gameplay is not new but great. Though only if deployed in the right way.

What I mean, already in the Fallout 3 the AI of enemies and your companions had just enough power to light up a 30W light bulb. And Anchorage just shows even more the deficiency. With a game that has so much emphasis on combat one would expect usualy a at least somewhat challenging AI.

hmm....seems like nobody complain about the crappy Chinese voice in the DLC. I'm SHOCKED to didn't understand a word from the Chinese General AKA last boss of the DLC.

Bethesda must have cut the budget in writing department AND hire some weirdo that can't speak Chinese as voice actor due to economic crisis.

Erm, Anchorage is hardly FUCK YEAH AMERICA. I don't recall executing unarmed POWs being a good thing.

I was talking about FO3 as a whole. FO3 is totally "fuck yeah America". One of the biggest reasons I really hated it. If FO1/2 was decadent, FO3 is overly patriotic. And, unlike in the aforementioned FO1 intro, I fail to see the sarcasm/irony behind those claims in FOr most of the time.
yeah but since it is based in washington, settlers are surrounded by Americana, it is sort of natural that the tone and feel would lean to that patriotism after generations of people growing up with signs of America around every corner. The other games' settings were far detached from america's roots, so it makes sense that they are the way they are.

As for the DLC, Here's my opinion:

The scenery was nice.

Thats about it, this engine doesn't cut it for a stand-alone fps style gameplay. AI is too dumb, enemies to sparse for an invasion, gunplay is just not satisfying. Bethesda could have redeemed themselves had they added in lots of scripted events to make you feel like your in an action packed battle, drawing some attention away from the FPS gunplay(vertibirds being shot down everywhere, groups of soldiers getting destroyed by artillery in front of your eyes, etc.)
But instead they just went with their static environment and plopped in some enemies, turning it into a gimped linear-style version of the actual game.
I myself really like fallout 3, and wasn't really expecting a whole lot out of this DLC since I knew the RPG elements were not going to be part of it. I do have higher hopes for the next 2 DLCs though.

Which would make sense if the bombs droped yesterday and you were talking with people knowing about the propaganda, war and eventualy thinking about chinese starting the war. But after 200 years I doubt anyone would be interested in "american patriotism" leaving alone beeing a patriot [Edit, Except for the enclave of course].

From my own experience, O:A is five dollars of fun and substance in a bloated ten dollar package.
