So who's getting Halo 3 tonight at midnight??

Well, to state it, yeah, I'm picking up my copy at midnight. Along with some of my IRL friends. I have nothing better to do, and I don't usually hit the sack until around 1 anyway, so I'll be there.

Only if you keep the mouth-frothing hype out of here.
Deal. I don't like hype anyways; the absurd over-hyping that accompanies popular games is always a put-off. Just gimme mod powers and I'll vat any overzealous hype that rears its ugly head.

Oh, and I changed my mind. Supposedly, according to the guy at the counter, my local Wal-Mart won't have many people there for the midnight release, so I'll go ahead and pick it up there at 0001 hours (12:01am). 'Course, it's possible, even likely, that he was talking out of his ass. We'll see.
Edit:
Or are you all just so not cool your gonna be "different" and not get it?
Anything popular always has its detractors who only dislike it in an attempt to be "different." However, it's quite possible for a person to genuinely just not like the game. No need to be brash about it either way.

What's this Halo of which you speak?
it's an over-rated fps game.
basically, it's like other deathmatch games, but you got vehicles in it. A bit like UT2004's Onslaught. but Halo came up with the idea first

A friend of mine is getting it tonight and I told him I'd go with him when he goes.

I personally loved the halo games, they really feel a step above other console games in substance to me, especially when compared to other console fps games.

I can't wait ti play it.

and fuck the hype, I could care less about that, I jsut wanna play the game thats the sequel to two great games I enjoyed (Although the first halo was better).

Halo 3 anyone?

So has anyone got the game? What are your thoughts?

I bought it a few hours ago and have been playing it since. It is amazing, graphically (so far), but I hope it the storyline builds to something...

I never got what was so new, evolved and awesome in Halo. Probably the amount of bullshit shoveled into your head when it comes to reviews.

The world's most hyped and least original game, Halo's success was that it was the next console shooter after the N64's Goldeneye. Oh, and wasn't it bundled with the Xbrick?

That's it. In terms of shooter gameplay, Quake I beats it. Not to mention today's rivals: Bioshock and Stalker.

Halo fails.

Halo is the Madden of FPS...

Insignificant changes to convince people that it's not just 50% shinier, coupled with a massive marketing assault to fog the minds of people with money to spend.

Might as well market it as Halo: Now with Hats!

Why did it have to be new and evolved?
It just played well for lots of people and tickled the right interests.

I for one, got the game without knowing about the hype and loved it to death. Halo 2 was also fun, although seemed like they took a few missteps, and so far the third one is terribly fun, although I'm a bit iffy on the action, maybe I need to play it on a harder setting.
Also, the story seems iffy, but you know, I haven't finished it or even got more than about 2 hours into it, so who knows.
