Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors of the US Military

Well then, my best wishes to you out there, hope things go smooth and calm. Trust the men next to you, but I'm sure you know that already.

I'm entering Colegio Militar de la Nacion next year (argentine equivalent to West Point), if I pass all the exams which I think I will. It will be four years of hard training to become an officer, and after that I will be sent somewhere within my country borders or some hot spot around the world wherever UN troops are posted (Argentina's military is participating more and more in UN operations around the globe).

But who knows what will happen four years from now. In the meantime, you just do the necessary to stay alive and well, because we want to keep seeing you around these forums.

Carib if you are in Kuwait look for soldiers riding pink and purple bicycles. Be sure to say hi :)

I'm doing a Defence Preparation class this or next year, then six weeks on the proving grounds in Biedrusko and I'll be certified cannon fodder with the rank of Corporal.

In reserve, that is.

Hey all this talk of Fobbits is offending me! Carib my advice to you is not to argue with your wife/girlfriend while your there if you have one. A great many soldiers have fucked up on that one. You may come back with no money, and a large amount of debt. If your single...disregard. Tell me what part of Baghdad you are at when you get there. I'm curious to hear how things have changed since I left from a soldiers perspective. Reporters don't know shit.
My favorite things that I loved to get mailed were;

Food
magazines
books
music
pictures

Typical shit. Depending on where you are located you might want wet wipes too.Good luck man.It will drag by at first, but halfway through the tour you will wonder where the time went too.Keep your head up.

Actually I am fine... We arrived in Baghdad this morning and already settling in our FOB. But thanks. When I get some stable net connection, I will be able to keep you guys informed!

So far, its not much, since I haven't been around all of base yet, but in time it will all unfold.

in the meantime, don't let the bedbugs bite. i hear those spiders are nasty out there. :P

Don't let those spiders get near your mouth, or they'll lay their eggs down in your belly.

and don't let the radioactive ones sting you, or you'll become spiderman.

If you want the construction vehicle to "unfold" you have to double-click it or select it and press "D" for "deploy". Then you can start constructing your base.

You forgot to mention to always put down the barracks first, otherwise you can't build fences or pillboxes.

I didn't get to say anything when you left, so, good luck. If you get any flak from civilians when you are over there, just remember, it's not at you, it's at the CIC. :)
