Spiderman 3

Actually, it had even less to do with Punisher but it was more violent and more trashy, so, yeah, I guess it was better on some level...

Best comic book movie ever is still Flash Gordon no? Or the first Superman with Chris Reeves - the first 30 mins or so of that movie are tight (but I was never a Superman reader so WTF do I know).

Nope, best comic book to movie would be Conan the Barbarian.

Except that it's based on the pulp-novels from the 30s and not the comic books from the 70s. Weren't the comics inspired by the Frazetta paintings?

edit: Either way Dino DeLaurenits wins.

Punisher was bad because it was poorly written and directed, because it had absolutely nothing to do with the comic and because the Punisher character was completely altered.

Uh, what? A lot of the scenes in the movie were taken directly from Garth Ennis's Marvel Knights Punisher run and from the early 90's War Journal series.

I agree with Kharn. It keeps that feel from the comics of a savage land where might and magic prevails. I think the new version of conan childhood as a slave spinning that wheel and fighting as a gladiator builds more effectively his character background then Howard's version of a tribal boy. Conan is a loner hero used to blood and carnage.

Warrior: Conan, what is the best in life?
Conan: Crush your enemies, see them run from you, and to hear the lamentation of the women

The soundtrack is fabulous too. Anvil of Crom, Riddle of Steel, Tree of Woe, The Kitchen
