Stuck Pixel!

That's what I did. I browsed their online offer and ordered a monitor. It turns out the manufacturer released a screen with a few stuck pixels.
I meant, browse their online offer to see what they have in stock, go to the physical store, inspect the unit and purchase it there. It's a good way to avoid nasty surprises, but if you don't have time...

Pretty hard to do, taking in account their physical store is in Ausir-town, a few hundred kilometers from Warsaw :P

did you at least make sure their return policy was ok for you before you bought it?

most places dont replace them unless its a number of dead pixels or more than 1 line.

what is the return policy of the place you bought it from?

I live in the EU. There are a number of laws that protect the consumer, such as regulations to keep asbestos out of baby chow. In backwater Polandia, you can return an online purchase for up to 10 days for a full refund. The store can't say "no, we won't accept it, you bought it, you're screwed". That's illegal.

By the way, found another dead/stuck 'one. Turns out the blue spot wasn't a single pixel, but a couple. There's another one on a different part of the screen.

Whoopee.

They're multiplying!

So, there are no stores that have an "all sales final" policy? Fascinating...

Nyop!

Called the manager today, he apologized and a courier will pick up my faulty monitor tomorrow morning, send it to his store and have it replaced by the end of the week.

Booyah. I like honest people.

I depends on where you buy it from, and who is shipping. There's usually a 30 day money back guarantee, but I'm no fancy lawyer so it could be a law.

dead pixels (or stuck, whatever) usually tend to appear in clusters.

yes, the US does have a law for 30 days money back guarentee on a defective product if its shipped to you.

problem is, a few dead/stuck pixels or even 1 line is not considered a defective product.

if they say that they will replace a LCD monitor that has over 4 dead/stuck pixels or more than 1 line....

then that means if it has 4 or less or 1 or less, its not defective.

but they do have to honor the 30 day money back guarentee. so what you would have to do is return it, get your money back, then order a new one, if its bad, return it for full refund, get your money, and then order...

if they catch on though they could just refuse your business, or just re-send you the "faulty" monitors you returned :)

Pixels sometimes get stuck during copulation.
You could try to apply a small bit of vaseline to the stuck pixels and see whether they can't wiggle themselves free.
