Stupid fallout experiences...

There had been power outs all day and i thought i would play some fallout 2, and after playing for a few hours i felt it was about time to save the game. The computer i was playing on was pretty old and it took about 1-2 minutes to save the game if not more, and just seconds after i started saving the power went out, savegame corrupted, i was lvl 48... RIP :(

oh, and getting stuck in military base because of the stupid elevator, even after playing the game for the 100th time :(

the first time i played FO2 i got stuck in a small house as sulik was stood in the doorway and i did not know back then that i could make him move so i started a new game and found out in that game that i could do it, i was in NCR i think can't remember exactly though

Im currently playing FO2 again and this just happened... i went online to find if theres a solution, and found this thread...

Ive just cleared out the sierra army base, and a bit of a hoarder, taking all i can find..... cant carry anymore, so i go back out to my car and put ALL my inventory in my trunk, so i can carry more (and dont need weapons etc as everything is dead)

get back in, elevator is already open, went to 3rd floor to take 2nd elevator to 4th floor (elevator doors open, again)
After looting everything i could find, i go back to the elevator (but this time the door is closed), so i try use the eye on the retina scanner................. its in the trunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily, i can open the doors and get to the 3rd floor.... i try open the other elevator to get to ground floor but this elevator wont open!...... get a message saying something like "cannot open as the door seems to be open on another floor"

im stuck!!!! Is there a way of getting out without the eyes!?

i dont have any form of explosives to try blast the elevator doors open, and although i know theres a side elevator that goes to all 4 floors, i cant get to it as i have shockingly bad lockpick skills!!

i havent saved since getting at sierra and determined to find a solution that doesnt involve me reloading and doing that base all over again

For the past hour, ive (in a new slot) been attempting to lockpick the door for the side elevator... doing the following:
lockpick, save, lockpick, save.... until i jam it, then reload and repeat...... literally for an hour and it wont open!!

Help! i feel soo stupid!

First time I played, I thought that the Vault City people were too assholey so I waltzed in with a laser rifle and kicked some ass.

I also love flares, I seem to get a lot of crits with them and it's funny + satisfying seeing some PA guy get hit by a flare and die from 1 damage.

Here's a funny one, I was in the Den and I dropped all my stuff except for lit TNT. Kid pickpockets me and runs off... Comes past me (I went to the paisano guy.) and detonates killing me AND the Paisano guy

Playing fallout tactics way back in 2001 online, some guy had hex edited his character data and was running around as a pipboy.. haha.

Step 1: Give Sulik and Cassidy large guns, set to "stay here" in combat.
Step 2: Tell them to wait at end of Military Base Corridor.
Step 3: Snipe 1st Supermutant, and let the rest get shot down in a 3-way crossfire while they get in range.
Step 4: Loot bodies, plant stuff onto Sulik to carry.
I forgot Step 3a: Tell Sulik to join you, dumbass.
Sulik turns hostile, I have to reload from start of military base. :(

As for AI hosing my plans, how about:
Planned to eliminate Mordinos using a Bozar (with Weapons Redone, so it's the ultimate sniper gun) and Cassidy with a Gaussrifle.
Stood down the street leading to the Desperado, at night so we could see them in the brightly lit casino, but they were out of range or shooting into the darkness.
Killed the first walking wall of a doorman with a Bozar crit in the eyes.
Second Doorman aims at me, hits the hooker and pimp nearby by mistake.
The Desperado is subsequently assaulted by a dozen shouting, knife-wielding tarts.
Bang goes my "sniper rifles mean only the mobsters get shot" good-character plan.

Or the classic "you encounter a caravan fending off robbers"
Always goes like this:
Merchant rushes in screaming, waving his stick.
1st guard fires his minigun, slicing the merchant in half.
2nd guard fires, killing first guard.
3rd and 4th guards hit the raiders, each other, and nearby trees a couple of times, run out of ammunition and possibly finish them off with their fists due to having better armor.
Guards 2,3,4 hand in their notices to the corpse of their boss, then tour the wasteland as a 3 Stooges tribute act.
The Chosen One and his companions finish rolling on the floor guffawing and cart away a trunkload of guns.

On a later-game version of that, since both sides were wearing the same assortment of armor, I accidentally shot the merchants guard while trying to "help". Since that would mean whovever survived would be hostile anyway, resorted to Plan B: Open up with the LSW and Deny Everything.

I sometimes try to see how many people I can get involved in the fight. Once I cleared out the porn studio, and JJ Jimmy got himself gunned down by one of the bouncers. Might try to instigate a war between the Salvatores and Bishops next.

Something I just noticed yesterday.
Try to use First Aid or Doctor on a corpse. You get messages like
"you can't heal the dead"
"give it up, it's dead"
etc.

i'm a save whore. I save all the time
Me too, it's reasonable. The stupidest thing was when I was playing FO2, version 1.0, I went to military base. I had been there before, but I hadn't repaired the generator. So when I went there, clicked the "level 1"- button, I warped to level 2! I couldn't get out of there, and I didn't have any backup saves. There gone my save :falloutonline:

I just remembered another one: how many guys here saw the Bridge Keeper and thought that they could take him? I did...
First time I encountered him and he starts asking, I just leave, and shoot a burst to him with 10mm SMG, because it had worked good before that and killed almost everything I had encountered (of course I didn't have the awarness perk, so I didn't see his HP... at least I learned something: "10mm SMG isn't the ultimate weapon, no matter how much it feels like one." :P

In Vault 15 I was standing in between some rubble and all of a sudden Ian stood next to me. I couldn't get him to move, so I tried killing him. He killed me.

Me too. Not realizing you could ask NPCs to change formation, I got stuck in one of the bathrooms in Vault 15. I shot Ian and he destroyed my character. Also, when you first meet a Supermutant and say " take me to your leader". They do, and it is really funny.

As for 2, am playing again and will have plenty

First time I played FO1. I had like 30% in stealing and tried to steal from every NPC I saw. Had to save, load, save, load, hundreds of times ><

Once when I was playing FO2 with restoration project, I was on a caravan and encountered bootleggers fending of wolves. I start shooting the bootleggers, because they have some really good weaponry. After I and the caravan guards kill them, the dogs attack us. After the first combat round, the game forgets that FO2 is a turn-based game: everyone just start attacking each other AT THE SAME TIME. Wolves get shot, fall, die and rise again when I hit them with Louisville Slugger. Now that was an... interesting experience.

I was gonna kill Salvatore by stealing his oxygen tank. But i just didnt have the heart to do it. So i put the tank back and shot him.

I played with my whore character and tried to help Laura (the chick in Den) and his gang taking over the party. Well cause my character's weak i had to run out and ofcourse the gang members followed me. So we ran around the house for a loong time.
E: Oh, and when i sold vics radio :D

I've run into the same stuff like getting mauled by Dogmeat and going to the Glow without radiation protection like everyone else has, but I do have a specific situation that made me feel more than a little stupid.

I killed Bishop and his entire casino in New Reno. I solely did it for the lulz and decided to talk to Thomas Moore in Vault City. I never got his quest to deliver the briefcase to Bishop, and I wanted to see if he said anything different since the Bishops were now dead. Instead, my only dialogue options were ones that made it seem like I had already taken the briefcase and they ALL lead to combat! Well, attacking Moore leads all of Vault City into attacking you. My ass was served on a platter by my third turn, and my last save had been in Klamath at the beginning of the game.

Went to The Glow, used Rad-X, found a book, and...read it. I failed to remember that the Rad-X wouldn't stay in effect forever.

At least you didnt strain your eyes from low light

Oh, that wasn't even close to the worst part. After reading this book, and taking quite a bit of radiation,(My count was at about 1200) I left The Glow. Headed into the wasteland, and was immediately given the "radiation sickness" events. Losing hair, brain hemorrhages, all the near-death stuff. I keep getting these all the way back to the Brotherhood bunker. By the time I reach the bunker, I'm amazed that I'm still alive. My stats are blown to hell, but I'm alive. I enter the bunker, head to the doc, and get patched up. I've never read a book in The Glow since then. What I have to ask my character is...how the heck did you survive all of that?! Walking through the wasteland while your brain explodes, with your pants full of filth, your skin falling off, and your hair dropping in clumps, with Ian, Dogmeat, and Tycho staring in horror, only to be instantly cured at the bunker. Amazing, that post-nuclear technology.
