Submarine Mod

shit i know this and i try to do this times ago. i really wish to se a town like denver sometimes in the fallout engine.

In fact, it would be pretty easy. The stuff around is just a optical fake, so it would be just needed to make some unique bridge and scenery around (which is pretty easy) and it's done. I wanted to do this since a while but I don't know where to use it in a good way, so...

Exactly!

Technically this could be done, but practically is quite pointless. Wasting a lot of time for nothing. Just to walk on some bridge which is hanging in the air and... what?

A lot of additional large art (and maps) will be needed to give the illusion of being in the uber large city. One bridge isn't enough, otherwise you'll get magical teleporation from "village" areas into one "epic" map. It's just stupid.

Maybe in Tactics engine, where you're able to walk on different levels of the same building, but here?

Not to mention that this is 2d engine where you can't rotate the camera to see the greatness of the scene. So yeah, engine can't handle anything like that.

we4 need a new fo engine, which u can use diffrent layers, and where goign upstairs (like reno casino) is one hole map . ;)

but i have denver in my head. u walk on skycrappwers and down there is FOG (maybe with a shader like in wather mod). But i do not have the know how to do that.

It is really not a problem to make the graphics. The problem lies in the sense of doing this. Just for the optic of 30 seconds walking on the topside isn't worth the work.

i mean a hole city. like it was planned in Van Buren.
Look how cities in Fallout/Fallout 2 are looking. Do you see ANY large/epic/whatever building like thing(s), where player can interact, other than go on the exit grid? And you're talking about city full of skyscrapers, walking on the roof (in the fog) 1km away from the ground, etc... :D

meaby you can tricks. i mean this like u make the tiles like small buildings . hm sry i cannot explain it in english but i think it is possibly to make.

What the fuck, Wolna? Van Buren's engine was 3d, thus "slightly" different, and Denver was such a challenge even for the professionals; it has really in-depth design doc, among others.

But okay, okay! Do the fucking Denver, Contie! This is something completely different - a waste of time of epic, unseen proportions! :D

hm i think u did not understand me -.-

and i never siad that contie shuold do it. i think there are at this time other preorities.

I just stumbled upon something more or less interesting...

Speaking of MY particular vision...

a small "town" on the sub, filled with NPCs (no bad ass monsters), with a bar, etc. just a normal place to live. Hull (with a lot of hand made holes to get a fresh air from the outside), surrounded by large metal constructions pinned between wharf/water/ground and the hull to prevent flipping. And with large, hot chick painted on the sail! :D And of course - no disarming torpedoes, no Shi or Enclave.

Something like this maybe?

Could be a nice bar in one of the last BGE's areas. Or rather... haha, spoiler! (I always bit my fingernails about the Subbie in RP instead of BGE)

Can I prepare a new contract? :D

Heh, that art is great. But something like this in Fallout would need some more new graphics, I guess.

Sign a contract with a green devil? :o

Seriously (more or less), since I'm collecting this kind of shit, because post-apoc stuff is hot in opposite to boring fantasy crap, I thought I'll post it here, so maybe some shinny day, someone will make something like that (the prize will be a monument in the Hall of Fame of Fallout Modding thingy), since town on subbie is much more interesting than scenario from Holy Fallout Bible, which simply sucks, just like Kung-Fuuu-Shi freaks, and Fallout 2 generally.

TONS of new graphics! :aiee:

Ha! Green devil he said! I want it under my av instead of that Vault Dweller bla-bla-blahs.

So I guess it's gonna turn out like you'll be hard working as Metzger's slave, whilst some guys will masturbate on what they see pretty furiously, which actually fires you up even more -> WORKFEST! Not mentioning heavily intelectual "FO Bible worthy/not FO Bible worthy" debates - a classic.

And one day, when FRMs are born, those green devils sneaks in and steals away packed and well fed. I like this fairly tale!

I must say, viewing stuff like this makes me want to learn how to mod Fallout. Very impressive, although i agree with contie to a degree the sub could have served more than a 1 visit location. With 3 levels, the potential for something more is amazing.

I'd personally avoid any epic plans like counting how many times PC could possibly visit the Sub, how many bad n' ugly bosses to cram in, or even putting it to the very centre of the universe (area/location).

Why everything tends to be built on the new art instead of using it as a cool sub-part of quite a "normal" location? (I know, the idea of Sub operating as a raider base is alluring, but hey, it's most frequent cliché of the whole universe...)

I personally would just take the already existing submarine and re-paint the water into desert. Then building a city inside of it. :>

Some ideas are in my mind right now and if I wouldn't be such a lazy tard now, I would just start with it. Eh.
