Surfs miscellaneous art dump

For todays lesson on "howbloat up the development time of a game even more" I want to show you some beautiful work my friend Luther Blisset made - because the idea was to give some NPC (and the player characters ofcourse) some nice looking portrait (similar to the portraits in Icewind Dale - but keeping it on our hobby/amateur level.

The result is quite nice I find.

It is still work in progress, but I am loving it! I added some minor tweaks and put the background and ambient scenery in (smoke, cityscape etc). The character will be the "hero" of the upcoming demo for What Remains - playing in the snowy ruined city of Detroit.

Shoot, I wanted to spam the Chicago Abyss deathscreen over and over.

No biggie, at least I can now enjoy all the hard work you've done that I've been lurking on for years now.

Thanks guys! Yes, Viggo Mortensen on the Road was obviously one of the references I gave when describing how the character should look. :) This doesn't mean you have to be the same character in the game then, though.

Some art (not for What Remains, just for fun) I made today:

"Kopf und Herz" (Head and Heart)

(the actual piece I wanted to make - spoilertags because it is big) :

Very cool dude! I am really looking forward to the demo. :D

Looks cool, but the lighting seems a bit odd. I think that the yellow light at the entrance should be more "round", if you know what I mean.

Wanted to ask you - are you working on some ambient stuff now?

I'm currently working on some maps for What Remains and some script tweaks. Nothing much to show.

But I was bored today and made this. :P

Because the people on the rpgcodex liked it, I thought I post it here. Some test on lighting and texturing I did the other day.

Damn that looks good. How's it coming along?

Writing and my imagination for new sceneries is still strong, but there are missing scripters and people to finish some last few animations for a few critters so that I can release the demo.

So, thats why I am about to try to learn more about the modelling and especially lighting etc.

Here is a different shot, I tried to preserve polygons, but it still took me too long to render

All in all, it takes too long for too small things I cannot avoid for completion, and it kinda takes away motivation, heh.
