Talking Heads

never played the original, may get it from steam, but so far I still playing fallout 2, so may at some point give FO1 a go, just never played it

@ nyi
Zombie's looking good :ok:

Anyway, final version Mr. Cyborg:

and 228 colors...

I'll update this post with anims when I'll finish with them. I'm planning to create default FRMs + I'll provide 32 bit Targas with Alpha Channel (I need them to get rid of anti-aliasing anyway), so you can use 228 colors, or Timeslip's tweak.

Here they are:

You must rename MCYBONFG.FRM to MCYBONG.FRM.

So this is him neutral right?
No fucking way I ask him in my party, am too scared of him!
How could Stark be brave enought to fuck with him?

Stark must have been a even more bad mothafocka.

Also to be honest, I never imagined Cassidy to be such a evil looking person, simply because of that Stark-story. :P But I don't care, as the head relly looks great.

Leather Armour will be used with final version. I've used Metal Armour for WIPies since it's looking moar sexy, IMO. Big Badass Chain for Big Bad Girls!

I guess here might be a fucking romantic fight between BGE, MR, SD and RP leaders one fine day.

And the prize's talking head (who doesn't actually talk). :D

Keep "my" Mr. Whip out of enemy's eyes, Cawntie! :drummer:

While I generally love the new head of Cassidy, am I the only one who finds the beard a bit weird? I see a very sharp distinction between the bearded chin and the hairless cheeks.

Indeed. Using grayscale bitmap for Density/Scale/Length to get smoother transition hair <--> face:

crashes the software/bitmap is totally ignored when head in getting the motion. I can only render default frame. I have no fucking idea where the problem is. And I'm not going to manually fuck with hair.

That's why is better to not doing any exluzive stuff for particular mod. Let's share with others

And what about Big Bad Talking lizard? Gecko perhaps?

------------------------------EDIT2

After large number of trials and errors (and crashes) I narrowed the problem: left eyebrow! And his right eyebrow is nothing more than mirrored left one. First frame (0) is always good, no matter how the head is animated. Rendering rest of frames with left eyebrow will cause crashes/ignoring bitmap. Really nasty and weird issue :? So, I deleted left one and mirrored right one as a new left one - looks like problem is gone.

Victory!

He should look moar natural and less Amish now. Also, I've made his beard longer.

I don't have to fight, I know I win. :smug:

For now, I just have planned 5 or 6 talking heads (at maximum) anyway. This would cover all important / interesting characters in the main locations.

/Edit: Out of curiosity: How hard would it be to make a power armor talking head with power armor helmet on? Similar to the advanced power armor talking head in Fallout 2? :>

Well, carbon copy of PA + helmet is needed, obviously. It's a the biggest holiness of Fallout universe after all. Or copy & paste main menu screen to the TH window :P

Anyway, why not use original THs? I don't know why modding teams need so badly new, custom THs. If you're using the same scenery/critters/tiles stuff over and over again, why not to use THs?

Also, no point of doing TH if don't have a voice for it. Simple. Instead of it use a non-talking still. After failure of getting voice for Mr. Whip (I'll pimp him anyway, but without doing FRMs), I'm not going to make more animated heads (only Mr. Cyborg, since there's a high chance to get a voice for him). Enough of wasting time for something that isn't used (like animations, which are pretty much, boring and annoying task to do). Stills are much moar funny to play with, IMO.

Huh. I don't know how the others will do it, but I plan to have my talking heads voiced. If not voicing them, why adding talking heads at all?

What I will not do, is adding stiff images. This never looked good to me (we got a few mod examples of that already). Then I'd rather let the screen empty and player can think himself a head.

Taking a copy of the main menu (or other PA helmet sources) and pasting it over the power armor body that is existing already, is something I've thought about already years ago. The animation will be the problem and will make it looking shit.

I am not using original THs, because they mostly don't fit my characters. Also most people are connecting them to something else already. I would also go far enough to say that there is a big difference between reusing wall, scenery and item content and reusing talking heads. :> (personal vs. unpersonal graphics)

To me, they're just graphics, good looking graphics (original art style anyone), which can be used just like critters or scenery. Customization is the last thing I'm expecting to see in Fallout.

Yeah, but try to fit the original talking heads into something like... badass metal armor slaver npc or something like that. It's not possible, as you can only use them for a limited type of characters.
