The end of Fallout3...again

As for Interplay, there is only one thing I am expecting from them now. Declaration of bankruptcy. The sooner the better.

I just hope the FO rights gets out to some company with former BIS staff before the house of cards begins to fall. I think that would give the BIS staff a feeling that at least everything didn't die the day they were let go.

Interplay once had a line in their logo..
By Gamers - For Gamers.
That is no longer true, i think that more suitable will be
By Morons - For Money.

LOL

The only good out of all this (I'm trying to see a bright side.... it takes a lot of imagination to do so though) is that they've cut their own throat. Shame they had to screw so many people to do it. :?

el_Prez]Once F:BoS is released and becomes a horrilbe failure that will be the nail in the coffin for Interplay.

Don't think so.

Fo:BoS is poised to be a succes. I don't see anything stopping it.

The game being crappy from our perspective, allee, but I don't see any real reasons why it shouldn't go over well on the console world.

Only thing holding it back is the graphics.

You might be right, but there are a few things we can count on....

1. Lack of a decent consistant storyline
2. Boycott from loyal Fallout fans
3. Interplay assholes cutting corners just trying to make a quick buck.

If there is any justice in this world, the game will crush whatever spirit interplay has left for making games and force them to sell Van Buren and the Fallout name to Troika or Silver Style.

That trailer they showed was awful, even if I wasn't a Fallout fan I would have taken offense at it. The graphics don't look impressive, and there's not really a lot of cool features to show off. My prediction is mediocre sales at best. I just don't see why someone would choose this title over any other of the numerous action games available for the consoles.

It's amazing what great games they could release compared to what is going on now at IPLY.
I for one am trying not to play FO2 again for about ten years (about 9 left :)) so i can enjoy it again in 10 years, when i will have forgotten most of the things in it. But to be honest i don't think i'll ever forget them... Anyone remember that old Sensate from Torment? That wanted to forget everything so he can experience different things again? It would be cool if i could forget FO2 every time i finish it and only remember it was good so i would replay it again :). Or maybe we'll live enough to be able to go in alternate dimensions and take a copy of their version of FO2 :).
Maybe now's a good time to start playing Wasteland. I know it's good but i've never played it enough. That combat is too boring and awkward or something... i don't know why i don't like it. But considering the alternatives...

And it should be "By Lamers, for Lamers".

So close but so far. Fallout 3 was so close to becoming reality after all these years and now this BS :x

But I still think there is very good change that Fallout 3 will see day of the light. There is a lot of enthusiastic developers out there who will do their best to create Fallout 3. You know who you are :D

I started play Fallout 2 again after many years and I realised it was midnight already ;) Time has no meaning when you play Fallout :P

Hello,

I never visited this website until today though I have played the original Fallout and Fallout 2 more times than I can count.

While in the grand scope of life a game is not important, I still felt like someone punched me in the stomach when I heard BIS was gone and Interplay had cancelled Fallout 3.

As an avid game player, be it console, board, computer, whathaveyou, I am saddened that a group such as Black Isle Studio would be let go and have yet another game taken out of their more than capable hands.

I hope only for the best of those who are now jobless during the Christmas season. This action reminds me of Sierra's treatment of its workers and Sony's treatment of Psygnosis. Truly a shame that people who have created something that went beyond what it was intended be dealt with in this manner.

Well.....there is the fact that we have very shitty luck when it comes to anything FO related.....

True, but I have faith in Interplay's greater ability of fucking up everything they touch.

I've never posted on this forum before, but I am a great fan of the Fallout series and this kind of news saddens me greatly.

Interplay can go fuck themselves. I am never buying one of their games again. It's not just the fact that they "shelved" Fallout 3 but they got rid of BIS just before christmas. If anybody Interplay reads this I hope your company crashes and burns.

Hmm, on a more upbeat side. Brian Fargo has started his own company, InXile (sp?) and has purchased the rights to Wasteland.

Fear not, my children! We shall find salvation in the one. He is risen again!

Fallout was the result of the great ideas of a great team. All the events that led to the creation of Fallout were like a rare event that only happens once every 5 years :). It's easy to see how a team of great people could have done it. But how can that happen again since all the people are split up between Troika, Obisidian, inXile and who knows where the rest will go? I can only wait for the next time a lot of great devs get together (by "chance" or by intention), cause I can't see a good FO3 happening just because SOME people will work on it. Just hoping it happens in this lifetime :)...
