Anyone else having a laugh at the overacting being such a focused on feature? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U9T8Z_Ayhw vs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZEMiX3iMb8&t=13m34s
Now I'm stuck watching these videos of conversations in 1/2...Don't get trapped...There are fallout 1/2 4k patches right?
How the fuck is Codsworth a good character? H'e's attacking ME HIS OWNER just because I'm sick and tired of these vagrants living in my beautiful Sanctuary Hills. Then I can't even kill him.
Sulik will attack you if you cause trouble in Klamath you know, even though you found his sister and helped his village. Granted, Codsworth is a robot and as such shouldn't be allowed to attack his owner, but the whole theme of the game seems to be that robots are people too. And who's to say those vagrants haven't been kinder to him during your absence than you ever were? I'll admit that I'm contriving to find a reason for a stupid game mechanic here. The "essential" actors is especially pissing me off, you can get around that by opening the console, finding their actor ID and calling "setessential 0". Or just clicking them and typing "disable", for a somewhat ham-handed approach. The reason why I'm so infatuated with Codsworth is probably just his voice, especially his combat taunts. But I guess Lou wins on that, too. RIP Tony Jay.
He was great in Fallout, but he was greatly underused. Spoiler (This clip from Armed & Dangerous features Tony Jay & Jeff Bennent / The Lou, and the Loxley.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmPqnKvbiiQ
Does Codsworth have any quests or basically anything else tied to him besides just being a companion that kills shit and not caring about anyone (think New Vegas here and Boone for example being with NCR, against Legion) and occasionally commenting on things?
Not that I've seen, but I still haven't played through much of the game. Still, he doesn't have to be a major character in order to be a good one. One of the settlers just said "oooh, that's one of those fancy robots," to which he replied "General Atomics' finest, thank you". I imagined him cocking his bowler hat as he did. EDIT: Holy shit, the voice actor is also Garrett in Thief, and Nick Valentine, and every single one of the guys in Skyrim whose voice I hated (grating as hell). I much prefer him with an English accent. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Stephen_Russell
I like Cait. Scottish junkie companion for the win. Also, Nicky Valentine. His ruined face and robot eyes work quite well with the janky animations. And he is just cool.
