The one game you've played the most...ever

What is the game you've played the most or in your whole gamer career ?

Mine probably is Carmageddon 1. I was 13 or 14 when I bought it. At the time, I didn't see the game in action and I didn't even hear about it. I just thought that the box looked cool and that the screenshot with the cows on the back looked funny. The box didn't even mention the pedestrians slaughter part, just presented the game as a race game on acid. Installed the game, launched it, fell in love with Fear Factory, fell in love with the game, didn't play anything else ( like, at all ) for maybe 8 months in a row. I was so hooked on Carmageddon that even my father asked me if he could try, just to see what the fuss was about. He played it for five minutes, smiled but didn't get what was SO AWESUMZ about this game.

For me, what made the game so great, is that it was TRUELY unapologetic, mean, and brutal. GTA might be more violent, it's nowhere near as mean-spirited as Carmageddon 1 was. The game also had awesome physics for its time which made the car crashes really spectacular and the two main characters were just great when they made the mean comments after they killed pedestrians.

Oh and I forgot to mention : the game had one of the best intro ever.

This is a great thread idea. Strange no one thought of it before.

My personal best...No Mutants Allowed: The Forum Browser. I've logged probably over 500 hours on it and to think I still haven't reached the admin level.

Seriously though.

Single-Player:

-Final Fantasy 6 gave me one playthrough of around 100 hours. Probably only 70 for the main quest, but I did all the sidequests and even explored any random bit of land I could find just, because it was there.

-Space Rangers 1+2. One playthrough can take 20-40 hours. I've played the first twice and the second once. I plan to play at least one more time and if I'm feeling evil another time with a pirate.

-Marrowind. I still haven't completed half of the main quest and only about half the side-quests I've wanted in one playthrough. Yet I've explored 3/4ths the world in about 50 hours. When/if I finish i bet it'll total almost 100. To think I still want to play a magic user.

Multi-Player.

-Starcraft. Use-map settings custom maps were an obsession I divulged in often and never got bored of due to the huge quantity and quality. I'd say I total 100 hours.

-Warcraft 3. The first RTS I tried to become a competitive player of. To this day I don't regret everything it taught me. I must've gathered around 100 hours just doing solo and that doesn't count occasional team games or custom maps.

-Team Fortress 2. About 70 hours. Most of it with Pyro, Medic, and Soldier. I admit though I used the other classes only a few hours each except scout which I have no interest in.

Sincerely,

Sadly, I've probably logged more hours into WoW than anything else. I played it over a 2 year period, half the time I was unemployed and stoned out of my mind, leaving me plenty of time to waste in warcrack.

If you took the Civ series as a whole It might be able to compete with that though.

As far as a single single player game goes, probably spent more time with Master of Orion 2 than anything else.

Fallout 2.

No doubt about it.

It ruined one of my relationships because I rather continued playing the game than have intercourse.

Jesus...

For me it's Battlefield 1942, closely followed by Spider solitaire. Fallout 2 is probably number 4 or 5 on my list.

I have a couple...
Sim Ant
Marathon - I ALWAYS started from the beginning, I don't think I grasped the concept of saves when I was (five?)

Civilization 2 - I was the only one who used our old mac computer, so I just kept Civ2 playing and simply turned off the monitor when I needed to quit.

Baldur's Gate 2 - Massive, took up much of my time in middle school.

No doubt about it, World of Warcraft.

I sorta feel like that is cheating tho, so runners up would be Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal, Diablo 2, and every game in the Metal Gear Solid series which I have dumped massive hours into.

Another for Fallout 2. Can't think of another game I've played quite so much except possibly City of Heroes.

Fallout 2 followed (very) closely by Dungeon Keeper 2..

I may have to agree with you on that
