The Pitt Interviews

A few remarks on the Pitt from Jeff Gardiner on VG247.
“Pittsburgh has a special resonance with several of our team members,” Gardiner added.

“Plus, it was fun to build large buildings that aren’t completely bombed out, as the city itself escaped direct bombardment during the war. It’s
also relatively close to Washington, DC. Pittsburgh also fit thematically with the notion of exploring a Raider society, which the player will now finally be able to do.”
And a video interview from DICE on Gametrailers.com, in HD or SD.

Thanks Vistaer.

It's cool to make a game about an area that resonates with you, I'm glad the people on their team got a chance to do it. It's a good change of pace from abstract corridors / space stations that seem to populate most games, you can kind of anchor yourself to a landmark. I like that stuff.

"Pittsburgh also fit thematically with the notion of exploring a Raider society, which the player will now finally be able to do.” This part I don't understand, unless raiders have transformed dramatically from FO1 to FO3. I mean, they get their supplies by raiding (caravans/villages/travelers) and then they have kind of a pack mentality with the strongest person leading them and calling the shots. The Pitt looks like settled industry with slavery mode of production. Not quibbling with that per se, but is that a raider society?

Good point, Jeff Gardiner is in Smooth Talker mode here; he obviously confuses Slavers with Raiders. By Beth’s logic Metzger was a Raider then.
This is an indication of how good Bethesda comprehends the fallout lore.

You make the mistake of assuming anyone at Bethesda even knows who Metzger is.

Indeed. HOW MANY FRACKING TIMES HAS PETE DONE THAT FACE?!?!?!

Like, seriously! Why god, why does he do that?!

I mean no disrespect for the good sir, he as a natural looking face, even calming in a way, in some pictures, but when he smiles... huh...

Hahaha!!! That was a good laugh, you guys rock. :D
With all due respect to the person, that smile gives me the creeps. Brrrr….

Bwahahaahahaha, epic!
He should stick to frowning...

I think he looks even uglier than Nicholson, though.

No offense intended, also! :P

Of course with all due respect to Todd and Pete.

That is priceless. If you photoshopped that yourself, I must say bravo.

Yeah, I did it myself. Not a hard thing to do.

Yes it is! You are teh mastah! I can barely do some stripes and you made all that! With colors and shit!

Facial jabs aside, what the fuck? How is an industrial society built on slave labour in any way a "Raider" society? If Pittsburgh wasn't bombed, easily accessible, and able to turn out a precious commodity, why aren't the more powerful factions there instead of in the rubble of DC and it's surrounds?

I know I shouldn't even bother trying to understand Bethesduh logic, but still...

Good thing I don't have an account with whatever the fuck it is you need to DL the DLCs. I don't need a triple helping of beth brand writing/game making. The first serving already gave me quite the helping of brain cell wilting stupidity. I don't want seconds or dessert.
