The real issues with Fallout 3, in my opinion.

neme, about vehicles, the brotherhood could have ridden their way up to the east coast in a stash of horses that stayed in tranquility loungers but unfortunately were sterile and died off by Mississippi so they needed to ride jet-skis through the Mississippi river and get carried by rad-geese to DC, but none of it was stated in game, so it is pointless as Ravager said.
