The Thing (1982) or The Thing (2011)

I think the B&W Thing uses more suspense than visual horror, kind of like how the Japanese and American versions of the same movie differ. I found Ringu far more chilling than The Ring.

Yes. For an older horror movie, B&W Thing is quite scary, with a surprising lack of camp.

These two movies as a pair baffle me because you can't win. if you watch them in release order then you already know what happened to the swedes so... you already know the outcome of the thing (2011). if you watch them in story order the thing (2011) now retroactively ruins the first 20 to 60 minutes of the thing (1982) because you already know
that its the dog. how it works. what its gonna do etc etc
so basically just watch The Thing (1982) and leave the other one alone unless you've got literally nothing else to do.

Forget those two shitty movies, this is the one you need to watch:

That was fucking great.

If anyone wants another unofficial animation that's more holiday themed, look up "Rudolf the Five Legged Reindeer."

That was the best 30 minutes of my life. Seeing Fanta fucking an elf was amazing. 10/10 probably not my proudest fap.

John Carpenter’s The Thing (1985).

Always been a sucker for practical effects; and the ones in that movie are top notch.
