The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

It was laughably bad in parts. Anyone afraid of that movie needs to grow a dick and balls, or they are a woman, either way it was pretty lame.
To be fair he was probably 12 when he saw it and it scared him, so his dick and balls weren't fully grown, I'm assuming.

Book of Eli I enjoyed until the end. Denzel and Gary Oldman are both really good in that movie.

Re-watched Fallen last night. Yup. Still excellent.

John Goodman rocked the ending.

Tonight it'll have to be Virtuosity...mostly so I can fanboi on Traci Lords.

Gary Oldman rocked in Dracula. Every movie I see him in ends up being pretty good.

I am looking forward to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance pretty bad. I know the first one was over-the-top campy bullshit, but I love the Ghost Rider comics, and I owe it to him to go watch the new one. It looks like they brought a little more to the table this time. The directors of Crank are kinda Douchy, but they get the job done, and they directed GR2 so- My fingers are crossed. From the trailer I saw, the movie looked a LOT better than the first one. Nick Cage will be fine as long as he doesn't do his Elvis bullshit, and the action should carry the flick pretty far. It is being released in February so there will be no competition either. Ghost Rider deserves a second chance I think. Fuck Batman.

Yeah, I agree. The best movie vampire I've seen, I think. Too bad Keanu Reeves and Wynona Rider slowly lose their poorly-executed-to-begin-with english accents as the story progresses.

I saw Eastern Promises on Fox Movie Channel last night. I liked it.

Watched a 70's Ghost/mystery flick called The Changeling. I loved every minute of it. It wasn't scary in the least bit, but it was an intriguing mystery movie to say the least.

saw Chronicle yesterday. It was pretty good. I liked the home-video/cloverfield/blair witch style but at times they were trying to hard, and there were times when it would have been best if they didn't have it.

Saw Grey the other day. That rhymed. That movie got the *~~~""""""--->>>>>>SPOILER*~~~""""""--->>>>>> scariest plane crash I've ever witnessed on screen. That is all.

I saw cowboys versus aliens the other day, because I was bored. I must say, I felt really bad with all the native american-european interactions. Seeing as the other worldly aliens are obvious invaders to the land, doing what they please and harvesting natural resources, at the expense of human life. Then, the poor native americans had to work with the other aliens who had already depleted their numbers and desecrated their land just to ensure their survival.

God, the native americans had it the worst in the way of european colonial persecution. At least other ethnic minorities like the Africans have equal rights movements and numerous other ethnicities have holidays celebrating diversity in America, when the Native americans still live on reserves, and their is a national holiday celebrating the European conquest of the land. It makes me sick.

Buck up cowboy, It is nothing new in history. This is the way of the world.

So many great nobles, things, administrations,
So many high chieftains, so many brave nations,
So many proud princes, and power so splendid,
In a moment, a twinkling, all utterly ended.

Watched In Time with justin timberlake. Wow it was terrible. I had high hopes for the movie, I like the premise a lot, but it was a total failure for about 80% of the execution of the world it tries to portray. In the end it was hysterical to make fun of with those I watched it with, so there was some redeeming quality.

The Native Americans are doing fine from where I'm sitting man. They control large parts of my state and many others. They practically run the town I live in. I actually qualify for Creek Nation citizenship, and plan on getting a card soon. I think the Aborigines are going to get it worse to be honest.

I watched The Gift last night. I thought it was a pretty decent flick. It wasn't scary by any means, but it was entertaining.

Native americans have had it very rough in the past. Some of them had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the white man's modern world, but they are catching up. If you travel across New Mexico and Arizona you will see a lot of their casinos. They've figured out how to pry the white man's money away from him. Their lives still aren't perfect, but things are improving.

Yeah considering that the Native Americans living here get free housing, commodities, health care, and child care. They are doing much better.

Speaking of persecution - Did everyone forget how hundreds of thousands of Incans were wiped out by Spain? They completely decimated an Empire far greater than any Native American tribe...maybe the Iroquois would be comparable. To spin that into the movie thread I might mention Apocalypto. I think Mel Gibson is the shit even if he is Manic Depressive.

The tribes where I live control a multi-billion-dollar casino industry. They're not hurting for resources these days. A lot of them live in big houses and drive shiny new SUVs. Which is not to say their ancestors didn't get mistreated, but hey, they're not suffering like the tribes did 100 years ago.

Never saw Cowboys v. Aliens though. I'd actually like to see some movies about pre-Columbian native american myths and legends. Without aliens, preferably.

I have to mention that I love the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. They perfectly captured the feel of the mature comic series, but marketed to the kid cartoon fans as well. I wish they would make another movie like that. The TMNT movie was pretty good, but I miss the good old days.

On Horror Movies

I miss movies that had good monster effects like The Thing, American Werewolf in London, and Silver Bullet. The modern CG effects are fucking up the industry. It has been done right in Jurassic Park, LOTR, and lots of other movies, but when they skimp on the CG it just looks like shit. I know it is more cost effective, but the fact is it stinks. The quality in the Horror genre has dropped significantly over the years. At least the gore effects are decent for the Saw series, and other slasher flicks, but that shit gets old quick. I could care less about a Saw 8 or whatever number they are on now.

Basically my must see list is looking something like this for 2012(Take into account that I am a Marvel fan):

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance- Original was a big letdown. This one looks a lot darker, but Nick Cage is still a bit lame. I will see it anyway because I am a GR fan. I guess I will find out how good it is on the 17th of this month.

Avengers- I can't emphasize enough how much I love this idea. I remember wanting this to come out when I was 12 years old, thinking to myself how awesome it would be, but afraid that they would gay it up. They have failed on many occasions, but this one looks like a win. They have a lot of Star power on this one, and many follow ups down the road. It's better than another Transformers movie anyway. Looking forward to this in May.

Amazing Spiderman- It actually looks good. I wasn't too sure on the Director for this flick, but he pulled through... I think. It is nice for them to do Gwen Stacy right too. They screwed her up in Spiderman 3. This one will be a great summer movie(July).

Dark Knight Rises- I have to say I am unimpressed so far. I will probably see it opening weekend anyway.

Of course who could forget The Hobbit? That goes without saying.

Avengers.... The Avengers? With Emma Peel?
Can't agree more about the lame CGI. Did you see Pan's Labrynth? I couldn't tell if I was watching CGI or puppets, or a mix, but I can say it was awesome.

No. The Avengers with Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor and Hulk. I never watched the old spy series. Pans Labyrinth was ok though.

I dunno, the Dark Knight Rises looks pretty crazy so far.

For the Dark Knight, the opening bank scene was used as a teaser. The same is true for the new film (apparently this showed before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol)

It does look pretty interesting, but it looks like it may be predictable. Does anyone doubt that Batman will get seriously injured? Bane will actually prove to be a challenge, and Batman may use the Lazarus pits. I just hope they have something up their sleeves.

Edit: I need to stop posting drunk...
