Watched The Shining a couple of days ago. Can someone recommend me some Psychological-Horror movies similar to this one? Something Stanley Kubrick-ish perhaps?
I'm not sure there's anything quite like The Shining out there. Psychological horror is a bit of a lost art, too. That said, I enjoyed The Others.

I had a movie-heavy weekend with TCM. Watched East of Eden, The Maltese Falcon (yet again), and Singin' In The Rain. All very, very, very good.

First post.

Watched Natural Born Killers last night. Why by some that movie isn't held in the same class as some of the other cult flicks is beyond me.

Just finished watching both Night Watch and Day Watch. They were alright. That genre ain't my cup of tea, but I did like the books. But the ones who said it was 'based' on the books should be strung up by their heels. I would say the films were inspired by the books, not actually based on it. Lastly, why was it so dumbed down? Do they assume that the average movie-goer is too dense to follow more than one plot at a time? I'd give both 65%.

He is getting pretty bad.

Was he ever good?
His comedies were awesome. It was only when he branched into drama that he became a turd

I've seen some of his comedies, including Amos & Andrew.
Yes, he's funny in some of those roles, but I've still never found him anything more than a mediocre actor - who progressively got worse.

To be honest, his role in Kick-Ass is probably the best.

Red Rock West, friends:

...the best Nick Cage movie. From 1993 with Dennis Hopper and Lara Flynn Boyle.

Also, Bad news for Ghostbusters 3.
Do you really want Ghostbusters 3, though? I don't. I'd rather see Bill, Dan, and Harold do a completely new, original movie.

I saw Eastwood's Changeling last night. Really pretty good, especially if you've never heard of the Wineville Chicken-coop murders.

I would like to see Ghostbusters 3 with the original cast. Most of the comedies coming out of Hollywood right now blow pretty hard. I love Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd though. If they were going to make another movie series surely it would have happened by now. They might as well give the fans what they want.

I think there's a slim chance that would work out, and a very large chance everyone would regret the outcome. I'd be afraid it would turn into Blues Brothers 2000 or the Spinal Tap sequel.

I completely agree about comedies these days though; with a few exceptions they're pretty bad. The mid 1970s to the mid 1990s was a golden age for comedy in the U.S.

I just came back from watching The Artist, it deserves all the oscars it got and more, very stylistic, everything in this movie is a unique sensory experience. Just Watch it if you haven't already.

Watched Underworld Awakening. It was one of the better ones in the series. I liked it better than the last one anyway. The ending kinda failed IMO. It ended pretty predictably. A decent action flick anyway.

Yeah, it's pretty damn good film. Sweet acting.

Though I'm kind of annoyed by all the folks who are ringing on all bells that it's a black'n'white silent film from 21st century - it's not the first and the only one of this sort (Call of Cthulhu from 2005 first comes to my mind - yes, it's a film targeting a niche community, but it's good too). I'm pretty sure there are other examples on the "indie" side of it.
However, it's the Hollywood-made one, which isn't a small thing.

Regardless of my rant, the film in itself is good, I recommend it.

If you ever liked the Ninja Turtles you will probably like this movie. TMNT: Turtles Forever is one of the coolest animated movies I have watched in awhile. I went in expecting nothing and came out amazed. It features the turtles from different parallel universes, so it has the turtles from the old 80's cartoon, the turtles from the 2003 series, and even the original black and white turtles from the comics! It even refers to the movie universe in several parts. This is a TMNT fanboys dream.

I think that any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s fan will find something they will like about this movie.

Also, I watched a little bit of the independent movie Rubber. Weird as fuck - Is the first thing that comes to mind. I only watched some of it, but I may try to watch more later. It is basically about a tire that comes to life, rolls around blowing shit up, and wanders around doing shit. The intro is pretty funny. Has anyone watched all of it?

I just watched Hugo, and... well, I understand where all the critics are comign from jizzing all over this movie.... but I don't share the sentiment, and let's leave it at that.

Also. FUCK 3D.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying how much that movie is a movie industry masturbation. It's like reading a book all about how great books and the people who write them are. Also pretty funny how narcissistic movie people buy in to their own aggrandizement.

3D is just so damn unnecessary.

Scorcese could have easily cut at least a half hour from that movie and it would have been a two thumbs up for me.
