I just watched Children of the Corn for the first time in years. That movie definitely hasn't aged well. Horror movies always lose me when something horrible happens, but the characters are too fucking stupid to leave. They see that someone is murdered, and the nearby town is completely deserted, yet they continue to search for answers, instead of simply leaving the town. Granted that the movie would be short that way, but at least give them a good reason to stick around.

I know, that is so true! I hate those horrors where they could of escaped but just decided to stay in the place where they could be killed. And on the subject of horrors, I'd like to add The Evil Dead 2, brilliant mix of horror and comedy. The first is also one of the best horrors ever made.

I think Evil Dead 2 is one of the best horror movies ever made. I hope the remake doesn't make me go on a shooting rampage....

Remakers should fear the booomstick.

Does look intriguing, but screams of nationalism will be many.

MALACHI!

So funny. One of my friends developed a phobia of cornfields after he saw that movie as a kid. I told him he has to watch it again now, because it's laughably not-scary. He still seemed apprehensive even after what? 25-30 years?

Glad to see some support for American Gangster. I liked that one too. It's a well-done Ridley Scott movie.

If you're mentioning John Ford, I have to go with The Searchers. The best John Wayne movie I've seen.

If you're interested in old classic westerns, I recommend Shane, from 1953. Jack Palance is a great bad guy.

It was laughably bad in parts. Anyone afraid of that movie needs to grow a dick and balls, or they are a woman, either way it was pretty lame.

Just re-watched the book of eli. Up until...

[spoiler:5338d4e140]...they get into the dinghy / cheap bluescreen effect...[/spoiler:5338d4e140]

...it's an awesome flick. Just not thrilled by the quality of the end.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the end of the plot, it's just that cinematography took a massive qualitative dive during the last ten minutes. Sort of confusing, considering the excellent work they did with the rest of the reel.

The same goes for Paranormal Acitivity, arguably the least scary and most boring movie ever made. You need to be afraid of you doors closing and your annoying siblings turning your bedroom light on and off to be scared of that. Seriously, I thought the tunnel scene in the original Willy Wonka was scary (actually that was a bad comparison, that's an insult to Willy Wonka as the tunnel scene was very frightening).

Paranormal Activity? I feel ashamed when I actually closed my eyes once because I guessed there was going to be something scary. Hopefully none of my friends saw that. I felt like a little girl with no life experience.

That movie really was not scary, the only frightening part was when

[spoiler:be71f7af54]the wife jumped out of the closet with the scary mask[/spoiler:be71f7af54]

and even so, that was your average scarejump that you can get on a Halloween night or with your friends.

I LOVED Book of Eli. One of my favorite PA movies to be honest. I see what you mean about some of the quality, but I though it was pretty well done. I am a rabid Denzel fan though so... :)

I loved it too, up until the point where I found out what the book was!
:D

Also, I finished watching through the Cowboy Bebop series, damn was that awesome.

Also+ Is anyone of you fellas familiar with The Mighty Boosh series?! I seriously recommend it to people who are into crazy surreal shit like myself. It's really really awesome!

Watched Poltergeist 2 again the other day. It was much better when I was a kid. Not nearly as creepy now.

The Book of Eli sucks ass, utter hollywoodian garbage. That's an hour and half or so i will never get back. The best PA movie is probably Boy and his dog. The Road is good too. And Mad Max, except the third part, that shit was retarded, ecpecially the oasis children side story.

While it did lack some moments (i.e. the plot is quite simple, no 'moral' side-story, overused action scenes), it was a good cinematic experience. The whole way the picture was drawn and directed (as if they edited the whole thing a brownish tint after they've done the raw filming) is good enough on its own. Add Denzel's acting on top of that.

Yeah but Moe don't you like it in the ass?

I can see why it's not for everybody, but at least it wasn't Children of Men or I can haz Legend. Hollywoodian shite is par for the course. It wasn't any sillier than Zatoichi. These days I only like/dislike new flicks based on the visuals, since all the plots are slightly more bland than tofu. Unless the title of the movie has the word "district" in it, then I can judge it on it's merits.

Tend to agree, especially about the little lamplight retardedness in thunderdome. Although part two basically sucked, except for the scene where the jo-boy gets it in the head with a boomerang. That made me laugh a little.

Also, best PA movie evah was Solarbabies. Everybody knows that.

Thunderdome is still a badass movie even with the Lamplight kids. Mel Gibson was awesome before he became a raging anti-semite....

It was funny, I'll give it that, although the parts that make me laugh are probably not intended to be amusing. (lolwut @ tina turners wardrobe, for a start, and where the fuck did all those pigs come from?) It's too bad Mel turned out to be batshit, he was fun to watch.

EDIT: Also, anybody seen Rango? Any good?

The Hurt Locker - great film, especially the ending.
However, I did find one particular scene, [spoiler:a6a05b0411]when Eldrich gets shot,[/spoiler:a6a05b0411] to be somewhat illogical to me, and so is some characterization in general.
However, the whole film is a great experience, and the acting in particular is pretty amazing. Rarely do you see a cast so complete like this one.

I wish Enemy of the State had someone other than Will Smif in it as the lead. Would have been less...douche-y.
