There's a lot to be excited about right now.

well this convince me anyway :D

That gave me a headache.

More on topic, I don't see anything interesting for this year but D:OS 2 and TToN, and possibly Civ 6 and DX:MD depending on a number of factors. Tyranny is one that has potential, but looks and sounds like boring as fuck every saturday stock fantasy riding solely on that narrative twist it has.

well this convince me anyway :D
Why it feels like a covered with ENB russian arena shooter from the 00s? Not even a modern halo clone, really. And a cutscene fatalities, ugh... I just don't even.

Problem with Civilization 6 is even though it's released this year, it probably won't be good/great until late next year when all the expansions/patches are done, much like happened with Civilization 5.

The AI in Civilization 5 on release was really, unacceptably bad. It's still not the best, but it's definitely better with the expansions.

So I'm looking forward to Civilization 6 but I'm not going to be surprised if it takes a year or two to be good.

I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5 and No Man's Sky in particular this year.
Next year there is of course Mass Effect Andromeda and (maybe) Shenmue 3.
I'm kind of hoping for a HD Remaster of Shenmue 1&2 in the next few years (mostly due to me not playing Shenmue 1 from beginning to end, and I'm not planning on buying a dreamcast and folk out possibly over £40 to play it).

No Man's Sky looks like a FPS version of Starbound, without the personality. Probably just a repeat of the trending topic on PCs to wet console gamer's pants.

Yeah, I found Starbound dreadfully boring.
Now Terraria I actually liked. It had proper bosses which you knew where to find and how to beat. It had a consistent structure of progress and while it also suffered from the "nothing left to do, I guess I'll just quit playing" it at least had some form of end-stage. Starbound I played for quite a while and I never felt like I made the same kind of progress as I did in Terraria. It's not to say that Terraria is some sort of diamond or anything but at least it was fun for what it was. Starbound just felt like a chore and like I never knew what the fuck I was supposed to be doing. Terraria also had a better base building design. The ship in Starbound simply ain't big enough, even with full upgrades, and building a base on a planet is just pointless as that planet becomes obsolete rather quickly and it is too much of a hassle to go to and from star systems to bother with it.

Terraria is a RNG rouge-like with structure.
Starbound is a RNG rogue-like with infinite content yo woah!

So I guess I won't be getting No Man's Sky then.

i'm currently engaged in similar type of combat in borderlands 2 sloughterhouse level, and this is completely up my valley. The art style still sucks, but the combat portion played by a competent player showcase some really nice carnage.

Well, let's see what my cynical ass has to say about all of this.

Doom.
I have never understood what people's fascination is with this IP, to me it has never stood out as being particularly interesting. I played the older dooms and they're fine for older games but that's about it. They're fine, if I'm stuck in a cabin with them on a laptop I could play them but I would never go out of my way to play them. Then we have Doom 3 that I played and it was just boring and tedious. Jump scares and boring shootin'. So a new Doom? Looks just as bland and boring as 3 did.

No Man's Sky.
So basically a rouge-like except prettier? I've gotten burned far too many times by rouge-like games. Rogue-likes often just try to sell themselves on being infinite but that means that they lose out on structure and serving a damn point. It's just wander around picking your nose until you can go to the next place that is slightly more dangerous so you can stumble around and pick your nose there. No Man's Sky seems no different to me. Here's this big ass galaxy filled with RNG. I just don't see any point in playing rouge-likes. Do I play it for the challenge? Cause rogue-likes have the problem of being RNG so the difficulty is all over the place and eventually once I'm the best of the best there doesn't seem to be any point to anything any more and I just end the game rather anticlimactically. Do I play it for the story? Cause a story in a rogue-like is usually very disconnected to the gameplay and feels like two different cars driving down the highway, I can't be in both at the same time. Do I play it for just fucking around? Cause 60 bucks is too much for a fucking around kinda game. I just don't see the point to this game. It seems like a tech demo that is going to be sold as a game.

Homefront.
Looks like a generic shooter. Boring.

Mafia III.
I don't even care. It's like sewing, I don't mind it being out there but I ain't gonna pick it up as my new hobby.

Battleborn.
The gameplay videos I've watched looks like a unicorn having diarreah(?) and vomiting violently all over the screen. Too many colourful effects all over the place. It's nauseating.

FF7.
I like it when a series is consistent. FF from what I've seen is far from that. Each game looks like it belongs in its own setting, so FF turns me off because of how they just flip flop between settings and time periods and gameplay constantly so a remake of some old game? I don't care.

Battlefield 1.
Is it like Battlefield Vietnam or Battlefield 1942? Cause otherwise I really don't give a shit as any game past that has never captured the magic of the old Battlefield games. And all I've seen so far is a bunch of idiots getting hyped up over a fucking CGI trailer that doesn't tell us shit about the gameplay.

Overwatch.
I Like it. But 60 bucks like it? Nope. Gonna wait for it to go on sale and for it to be released on Steam. If it doesn't get released on Steam then I have no interest in it.

FFXV.
I started laughing but because I'm sick I got a violent cough instead.

Mirrors Edge.
More nausea-inducing gameplay, yay.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
I really don't know. The last Deus Ex (not The Fall) tried to go back to what made Deus Ex Deus Ex but it just didn't capture the magic. And then there were the boring boss fights that were about characters I had no idea who they were. The main character who felt a bit cheaply written. The fact that you couldn't run away from boss fights like you used to be able to. And the fucking end was a travesty. I really don't know. The last Deus Ex was okay, not horrible but okay, but not 60 bucks okay. I also can't stand the setting. It takes place before the first Deus Ex IIRC but it looks far more futuristic and the augmentations are far more sleeker? It just... The last Deux Ex and this new one simply don't feel like Deus Ex to me. More like spiritual successors that is riding the Deus Ex name.

Dishonered 2.
I own the first one, never played it, can't comment. But I have no interest in it tbh.

Horizon Zero Dawn.
Looked up the gameplay for it. Doesn't look interesting.

Dawn Of War.
I don't even know what it is but I've never been into WH40K so whatever.

So, yeah. Basically I don't give a shit about the hypetrain of 2016. Only game I want is Overwatch and only games I'm willing to give a chance is Battlefield 1 and Deus Ex. The rest just seem like triple-a garbage to me or I simply don't care about them. I remember way back when I was younger and I actually looked forward to triple-a games and there were so many I wanted to get and I was so amazed by them time after time. And now look at me. I feel like a bitter old hag who's yelling at kids about how nowadays sucks. Whatever. Triple-a games can exist for those who enjoy them. I'm fine with that, I got my indie titles anyway so it doesn't bother me. Still, I never thought that this is how I would end up.

Doom: Please watch the video.

Wow so fast yet so boring. And apparently it uses Denuvo v2, so not even cracked for a good time. And pay a money for it... Nope.

The only thing that could get me truly excited at this point would either have to be another Obsidian Fallout game or Half-Life 3

Yeah now that I think about it, I don't know when the last time was that I got "excited" about a game coming out. I look forward to T:TON but am I excited? Not really. I don't know whether or not it'll live up to Planescape or even be amazing on its own merits. I look forward to Telltale Games' stuff but am I excited? Not really. I'm more annoyed with them ending seasons with cliffhangers when it takes for fucking ever for the next season to come out. I'm intrigued by Tyranny's focus on being on the side of evil but excited? Nah, it's just yet more medieval-esque fantasy stuff.

I suppose a new Vampire: The Masquerade/Hotline Miami/Nuclear Throne/Fallout (proper isometric and turn-based)/Alpha Protocol/Metal Dead/Underrail/Wasteland game was announced then I could get on the hype-train but none of that has been announced so there's nothing I'm "excited" about.

Probably for the better anyway. I got a revoltingly big backlog of games to go through. Leaves me free to get through them first.

Doom - Looks like shit quite frankly. They mixed Call of Duty with Quake Arena and slowed down the combat with gruesome kill moves since they obviously took more inspiration from Brutal Doom than the real Doom. Oh yeah and only two weapons at a time in multiplayer? :yuck:

No Mans Sky - Looks really cool and innovative but I suspect it won't have legs.

Homefront 2 - Not interested in multiplayer circlejerks.

Mafia 3 - I'm pretty excited about this one. I never got to play the originals but I get the impression that the story is pretty strong in the series. Yakuza 5 is much the same way.

Battleborn - No.

FF7 remake - They stand a chance of fucking this up.

FF15 - I'm looking forward to this but I am not a fan of the changes to the combat.

Overwatch - No.

Deus-Ex: Mankind Divided - I'm not a fan of the changes to the series, but I may try it out.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Not impressed.

Dawn of War 3 - This shows promise if my PC runs it.

Mirrors Edge 2 - Not too fond of the series, but I haven't played it either.

Dishonored 2 - I may wait until it is used so I don't give Bethesda money.

That being said I am looking forward to Civilization 6 after they add all the DLC, Torment, and Legend of Zelda Wii U. Speaking of LOZ Nintendo has pissed me the fuck off. They delayed the game to coincide with the launch of the NX. Thanks for making me buy the Wii U for no reason assholes.

Stellaris looks pretty interesting since I love Paradox. Tyranny doesn't sound that interesting but I love Obsidian so it is a must buy.

I'm not too hopeful with this years releases. One of the top games I wanted got delayed until 2017.

Can't even tell what's going on, dude is flying around like a monkey in a tiny area with what looks like brain dead enemies that don't seem to be much of a threat. I mean wouldn't you want your game to be remembered instead of "Yeah everything was like a blur and I spent half the time activating the cinematic awesome button".

No Man's Sky looks like it'll be filled with copy and paste everything without a soul. Can't stand RNG when it comes to 'handcrafting' and 'randomly generated terrain', just sounds lazy. What are you even supposed to do?

You guys are just boat-loads of fun, aren't you?
Son, you came to this site, knowing full well it's revolved around the classical Fallouts and legit cRPGs, and then try to tell them, at their face, to "Here! Get excited!" with stuffs not truly relevant to their overall taste?

And then the likes of you argued how they devalue 'opinions' and go around, telling them how people 'have their own taste' when they complained the lack of games that's up to their taste.

That's the impression I got from this. Did they turn Auto-Run on for this game, or did they take too much from Quake III? (Probably a rhetorical question since there's Haste and Quad Damage pickups.)
