Top Five Movies

Has anyone ever seen Metropolis? I keep meaning to watch it, but haven't yet.

Seriously guys, 13 Tzameti. That movie is intense.

You can't pick two alien movies. Those are the rules. You can only like one.

Uhhh add Highlander to my list.

'80s Edition:
  1. Predator (1987) - Better than Aliens in every aspect
  2. Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
  3. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
  4. Bloodsport (1988)
  5. Pale Rider (1985)

Aliens (all franchise)
The thing (all franchise)
Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings

Aliens

Terminator 2 (and hypothetical future war movie that would be actually good).

Gripe: So much potential for Salvation only for it to be wasted. No big Terminator battles because stupid fucls decided to use modern weapons. How many movies have we seen where it is explained that small fucking arms do not work on Terminators. Where were the flying HK and tank HK laser battles? Where were those big canister plasma grenades? Fuckers wasted an opportunity I waited over a DECADE form. Assholes.

I thought a while back you could have really honed in on the synthwave/vaporwave fad that was popular a couple years back.

Have a movie set in the future war with some trendy neon 80s dark synth aesthetic, go back to the "roots" of terminator by having it be about some refugees and a soldier trying to travel across this pulp sci fi Wasteland, pursued by a single terminator. More of a thriller than bombastic action

Then I remembered salvation was a shitty war on terror aesthetic with committee ideas overload version of that idea

Atomic

Agreed. Why didn't they just make a fucking movie about the Skynet assault in the original timeline. Just like the arcade game which was fucking awesome at the time.

The primary focus would be on Tech Coms epic battle to destroy Skynets main frame, something mentioned by Kyle Reese originally.

A secondary focus would be on the spec op strike team that is responsible for not only sending back Kyle (or reprogramming a captured T-800), but also securing the time displacement facility.

Drive is not in my top 5 of all time but it should be up there. Top 5 car related movies for sure.

In particular order
The Holy Mountain
Eraserhead
Old boy (2003)
Akira
The Big Lebowski
I have read—but have not compared... that Old Boy (2003) pales to the original, like Blind Fury to [any] Zatoichi film. Is this credible?

  • The Sting
  • Lawrence of Arabia
  • Blazing Saddles
  • Cyrano de Bergerac (1950)
  • Ben Hur (1959)

That's an easy series to not pick another one from it; I'd considered mentioning it myself.

Highlander: The Series is the only decent thing to come out of the original movie. Endgame was only good when I was 14 or so.

Old Boy

The whole incest angle is mainly a hillbilly thing in the states, not really known as a main stream thing. Incest is usually in the realm of horror and even then, more implied than talked about.

In Korean and Japanese films, it is more talked about and shows up more often in a variety of genres.

Edit: Sorry, I thought you were comparing the Josh Brolin remake with the Korean one and not Korean with Japanese manga.
