Drive is not in my top 5 of all time but it should be up there. Top 5 car related movies for sure.

Drives a personal favourite of mine. Its not in my top five and I wouldn't say it's an all time great on any technical or serious level, but it's a personal favourite regardless.

I have read—but have not compared... that Old Boy (2003) pales to the original, like Blind Fury to [any] Zatoichi film. Is this credible?

I've not read the original Manga (I plan to at some point in the next 10 years).
From what I understand, the film was being made before the manga had a chance to finish, so that whole incest subplot is original to the film.
Most places I've seen has said the film is much better, but I've not looked into the manga in a while.

Only one Apocalypse Now and one Alien (Specifically the 1979 film) and no Stalker. C'mon people step it up! 1979 was some fever dream of great films and I have no fucking clue why.
Stalker, Apocalypse Now, Alien, Mad Max, Warriors. Sure they wouldn't all make my top 5 but goddamn what a fucking year.

1. The Thing
2. Aliens
3. Bladerunner 2049
4. Terminator 2
5. Blade

I rate these high because I can watch them any time of the year and never feel bored with them. Excellent all around.

Stalker's great, but it's not an easy movie to watch
