Toxic Caves (the elevator)

Well i installed the gme over, and used my old savgames.
I did repair the generator. But my electric lockpick mark2 didn't work...

and by he way what's the bozar?:P

Electronik lockpick mark 2 doesnt work unless you patch the game and the bozar is in my opinion the best big guns there is.

If I recall correctly, a lot of that stuff doesn't show up unless you patch. You really, really should patch.

Snake, I agree entirely, the Bozar is the all-aroung best big gun, although a Light Support Weapon may make better sense depending on your Perks and modifiers. The funny thing is that I think several other guns, like the Avenger and Vindicator miniguns, are numerically superior, the Bozar manages to in general pull the best damage. If memory serves the Gattling Laser is the best weapon by the numbers, but we all know just how *practical* it is... or rather isn't.

the bozar is the only gun i've seen rip through 4 enemies at once (talking undamaged centaurs and floaters here, not some low armored raiderpunks with 10mm pistols and spears)

kinda lucky too of course, but the gun r0x, i never leave home without it ^^

One of the main reasons is that .223 is rather imbalanced compared to the rest of the ammo sets. Most other ammo mods are either 0 or higher, while .223 had both -25 to AC and DR. And since the numbers are checked for each bullet, the Bozar's mods mean that many more bullets hit and thusly do far more damage.

Laser is bad because everything above metal armour seems to have an unfairly high resist to laser, 60% plus so that most of the damage is absorbed with ease. That is also the main reason I didn't like Pulse weapons in Fallout 2, the raw numbers looked good but the resists on armour were so high that Cassidy ended up do 7dam to a centaur with a Pulse rife while with a turbo plasma he does 20+

It wouldn't surprise me if the Bozar had really been meant as a single-shot weapon, like a more powerful sniper rifle. It's essentially a rapid-fire sniper weapon with the .223 ammo. Doesn't have any accuracy bonus of its own, but if you have Big Guns 150% it hardly matters.

The pulse weapons use electrical damage, though, which is similar to plasma with respect to resistances.

Actually, it matters more with Floaters, that have a particularily high electric resistance; Plasma does much more damage to them than Pulse. With Centaurs, it's roughly the same

This seems to make sense. The Bozar's description would agree, as would it's appearance in the picture in game, which shows it having a scope. It is far more effective at range than a minigun. When I first picked one up (Off a gaurd in the NCR), I assumed it was a sniper rifle and was surprised I couldn't use it well (Of course my Big Guns was in the toilet pan since I had boosted small guns in my first game).

As to Laser, once I deliberately boosted my Energy Weapons skill to around 200 just to see how effective I could make a Laser Rifle. With Sniper, More Criticals and Improved Critical, I was able to take Navaro base out using the Laser Rifle. In fact it was quite handy for killing the turrets well outside of their range. That's really the only way to do it IMO, they do too much damage to get up close, and it's Plasma damage, too, which nothing really has a spectacular resistance to. I even managed to use a Gattling laser effectively, but it still required too much ammunition to use frequently (especially with the car *and* Marcus' Turbo Plasma Rifle sucking down the Micro Fusion Cells). The ammo weight was also a problem, but maybe if I hadn't used Small Frame, which I always use, alongside Gifted (sorry Per!)

Yeah, all .223 weapons are hte roxor.

I defeated, with a .223 pistol, a pack of 3 tough DeathClaws (1 big, 2 small) at level four with some Psycho, and targete'd shots to their arms, then eyes once they couldnt attack me.

Only used 1 super stim (large one got a critical in for 17HP) and 2 reg stims for dammage afterwards.

After a while the hunting rifle looses a bit of luster, but there really isn't a bad .223 weapon in the game. I think I've delivered over 1000 damage with the Bozar, but that was at point-blank range, made a critical hit, and at the time I had "better criticals" so it's not like you can just pick it up and get those figgures.

A great way to handle the millitary base is to pick Bozars from the Buster's men in the NCR and give one to Marcus, and one to yourself. Super-mutants fall in 1-2 bursts depending on skill level, number, and range.

And don't say things like "teh roxor", it's come to signify idiocy, even if you actually aren't.

Yeah but you dont have the same feeling when holding a machine gun and blasting them centaurs...With a critical hit with a gauss weapon you will just put a big hole in them.

True, but you can take them out in the same number of shots if you perk up right (sharpshooter, sniper, etcetc) and get bonus rate of fire.

Bozar in the Toxic Caves? Are you sure? I thought it was that weird blue X-rifle.

You mean the XL70E3? Nah, you'll find that weapon on the tanker in SF.

There is a Bozar in the Toxic Caves, though, pretty sure about that...

I am 100% sure that there is a Bozar in the toxic caves. There is also a suit of Combat Armor MKII, a Plasma pistol, a Laser pistol, several hundred rounds of ammo for both of the above, some Micro-fusion cells for your car (or whatever), and some 2mm EC ammo and 4.7mm Caseless ammo which doesn't go to anything yet but should be saved for later. There also should be some ammo for the Bozar but that is common enough.

The XL70E3 can be found on a tanker punk (unfortunately you'll have to snuff her to lay hands on it, so bring a pile of superstims unless you're good at silent kills), and it can appear in a few select merchant encounters, one around New SFO and the the other is above modoc, the same one that grants you the Alien Blaster, because I *think* (I'm not sure) that he draws off the entire weapons pool for the game, excepting unimplimented weapons like the Zip gun or Holy Hand Grenade. The XL70E3 is rather lacklustr IMHO, when I got it I opened up on some centaurs expecting it to be cool, but it really wasn't very much better than the standard AK-112 "Assault Rifle" There is really no satisfactory end to the assault rifle progression; big guns has the Vindicator (and the Bozar, of course!), Pistols has the Gauss pistol, Rifles has the M72 Gauss Rifle, the H&K G11E is an outstanding submachinegun, and of course there is even the super sledge for Melee types, but neither the XL70E3 nor the FN-FAL-HFPA are really good assault rifles...

I am also 100% sure that there is a bozar in the Toxic Caves!
At least i found one the last time i where there!

How the heck can I enter the depot at toxic caves?

I entered the depot trough the elevator before, but I can't figure out how I did. Does any of you know where the key to it is? I fixed up the machine that powers the elevator already.
If any of you would be so kind of giving me a hint, it would be much appreciated.

You have to have a high lockpick skill and are REQUIRED to have an electronic lockpick, which you use on the elevator. That should open it, and then you use a rope I believe.

I know, its a pain...when I tried it with 300% lockpick skill but no electronic lockpick, it STILL didnt work. Same with Science on the computer, etc.

Hope it helps.
