Toxic-Mod announcement

True, it is dead. However, I do plan on using the design document that was sent to me along with the files I received in the Megamod at some point.

Maybe someone should start a thread dedicated to obscure unfinished mods, this baby would be in the collection. Why did it die?

Why do 90% mod projects die?

Because RL has a habit of kicking you in the teeth, then you / your team starts quitting because they lose faith / they get kicked in the teeth. Flaming does wonders for someone motivation as well. Allot of people just like the idea of doing something, but don't actually like doing it. We have had allot of those guys join our team. Allot of dudes need a scoobie snack and a pat on the back every time they do something, and if you need someone else's validation and approval every time you do something, chances are you will not be doing a great deal.

The only projects that succeed are headed up by self motivated all rounders who don't need any help, but perform better with it (Killap, Chris Parks, MIB88, Forgotten Knight, Ardent). If a project starts without one of those guys it is very likely to fail.

Because people are not stubborn/dedicated enough. Too soft, too melancholic, not too critique-resistant. Lets say not everybody's a second Napoleon Bonaparte.

Real life fuckups and horseshits are only secondary. Slowing, but not necessarily a stopping factor.

Hey I completed my own mod (soon to be seen in RP 1.3) just by hard work and love. I never announced it officially until it was finished, that way I had something to show and discuss.

But without scripting talent you have no chance of producing a mod, and plenty people can tweak a critter, or artwork, but complex scripting well that’s another matter all together, that’s why I say a mod is not worth shit without good scripting. The Fallout 1+2 modding scene is lucky to have those few talented individuals that understand the structure of the game, if they leave, then the whole Fallout 1+2 scene dies. So I say - be nice to them…
