What I will say though is that WH40K's universe is a lot more fleshed out and compelling than the Starcraft one; that isn't to say that Starcraft's lore isn't good, on the contrary, it's fantastic, but it can't hold a candle to WH40K's Imperium and its struggle against Chaos.

Sorry, I don't find a hopeless ultrafascist theocratic monstrosity known as the Imperium compelling. If any, I prefer the world of Starcraft, since it has hope, while in the WH40K, the only race with which life isn't miserable are the Tau.

Now YOU are generalising; I'll take you are refering to human life in w40k, because surely the Eldar life is ok (although not as great as before the birth of Slaanesh) both for Craft-worlders and Exodites, for example.

But even so, it's still a bad generalisation: within the Imperium, what makes life so harsh is the dread of the Inquisition and the Ecclesiarchy, but it's not that common out of Hive-worlds. Human life in paradise worlds and agricultural worlds, and even some worlds ruled by Space Marines, is not a never ending nightmare. If fact, life in Ultramar is well known for it's quality.

Life in the Tau Empire is also good, yes; but it's not shiny - Gue'las are still seen with suspicion (even hostility in the worlds of the Damocles Gulf), and in general they are second class-citizens despite being well integrated in the Greater Good. In the Tau army, rare are the Gue'vesa that achieve better ranks - and with it better equipment - and even so they never go past Shas'la. Battle suits only in dreams...

Also, interbreed between castes - and many other freedoms - are forbidden for The Greater Good. As some people say, they're space communists, and they're not refering to the economic system

No, that's HARDGAY too-much-bells-whistles-and-other-shiny-crap-that's-totally-useless technology.

Eldar see aesthetics and functionality as equally important. Eldar ARE based on fairies so, yes, they are 'gay' but you as a furry shouldn't throw around your judgment about what's gay and what's not because you're absolutely not in the position to do so.

Too-much-bells-whistles-and-other-shiny-crap-that's-totally-useless technology is gothic, not hardgay; what makes Eldar hardgay is their voice acting in Dawn of War ;)

Also, you shoudn't attack it, because it's one of the things that makes Protoss be inspired in them instead of *insert word that causes ban*

Still, it's a dying society which will inevitably go extinct.

Fair enough. Still, it's the average life quality that counts, not the few that are better off.

Hey, at least you won't get drafted and die in the name of some corpse hundreds of light years away.

Too-much-bells-whistles-and-other-shiny-crap-that's-totally-useless technology is gothic, not hardgay; what makes Eldar hardgay is their voice acting in Dawn of War ;)

Last I read, gothic is intimidating and commands respect, not mockery.

Stealer cults.

This sounds neat, at the risk of a small off-topic post, I want to know what this is. :)

Are they kinda like Wieland Yutani (I'm sure this is spelled wrong), where they almost worshiped the Xenomorphs in that they were the "perfect" weapon?

Also Davy, you should use a bigger shovel, it'll help you dig your grave faster.

I edit my post and removed any trace of it; I thought he was joking with you and that you wouldn't get pissed. I'm sorry for taking part in it, and rest assured it won't happen again.

What I'm trying to say is that the life quality in the Imperium is so varied that it's a generalization to think it's miserable as a whole - there's no such thing as the average quality, imo.

I forgot to add that the Imperium is not the only human dominion in the galaxy - there are minor human Empires and Confederacies and such, as well as many independent & isolated human worlds. Humany has been around for 40.000 years, the Imperium for 10.000.

No need for offtopicness, just read about it here:

And here:

Everyone interested in W40k lore should bookmark the Lexicanum, it's great!
