Ulysses (spoilers)

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Ulysses was to be a player companion, who had to be cut from the game pre release, but is often mentioned, and may well turn up in a future DLC according to Chris Avelone.

The plot of New Vegas which seemed to be only half done, could be attributed to the cutting of this guy, because he was supposed to be the courier who turned down the job when he saw your name on the list, as told by Johnathen Nash. I'm guessing it was intended that the reasoning and whatnot led to a much wider plot branch, but it had to be cut due to time.

As another forumer mentioned, Wolfhorn ranch is Ulysses ranch in the Italian version, and he left to hunt down Elijah in the big empty. So, now with Elijah being dead, Ulysses may return to the mojave i'm guessing.

Now, Iv'e just checked wikipedia. Remember the DLC achievment "hear about possible future adventures 1/5" yeah, that, well the Battle of the Divide is between 'the two couriers' the Divide being the Grand Canyon, leading to the Burning Man, and there are Burning Man lives slogans around the Mojave...Oh man my head hurts.

Right, so Ulysses is hunting our PC courier, and this was supposed to be in the main game. I guess this explains all the unfinished and missing story content.

From Wikipedia:

"East of Primm there is a blocked route called Canyon Wreckage, it features graffiti saying "Lonesome-road", "Courier 6?" (complete with a yellow circle with an inverted 6 in the middle)and "You can go home Courier". More relevantly, the place name "the Divide" is also present here"

What's your source on the bit I quoted above? I'm also curious where Ulysses was mentioned as possible DLC potential -- I've always taken that as wishful thinking on the part of us forum dwellers and not anything sourced officially ( I was under the impression that all Avellone said was that it was painful, and more than a little difficult, cutting him out).

Anyhoo, I just completed Primm not that long ago in my playthrough and was hoping (anticipating, actually) that Nash's commentaries were foreshadowing for something revealed later in the plot. I'm more than a little saddened to see the those threads were left dangling by Obsidian.

*eDit: I just googled up the Vault entry and saw the "future DLC" commentary. Fingers crossed it actually happens.

Avellone said himself "maybe he'll return in a DLC". It felt a lot like he was going all *wink wink GEDDIT?* to me. Plus there's the fact that apparently he's mentioned in Dead Money and you get a Future travels objective-thingie when you hear him mentioned (the mysterious courier who wears the flag of the old world).

Sort of related, think there is any possibility that we might get to see The Big Empty?

I am curious about this place now.

The Challenge for finding foreshadowing is called Things To Come! The description is, "See where your travels will take you next... All the way to the end of the road." Now, the Canyon Wreckage with the graffiti mentions Lonesome Road. I assume that's what it is talking about.

I see the Big Empty as a seperate DLC from the Ulysses one.

We've got some Ulysses thread already.

Now after Dead Money, I am pretty sure that we will see him in some future DLC.

Hopefully. I mean if they follow the Bethesdian DLC tradition, the first one not so good, the second one better. The Pit was afterall much better then Anchorage. But yeah ... since it is Obsidian. Wait and see I guess.

Is the Big Empty supposed to be the California Central Valley?

And I hope they do Joshua Graham before they do Ulysses. Graham just seems so much more badass.

Right now, it feels to me as if Ulysses will be the DLCs final big bad boss.
