[Theres not much indication at all that they are working on a Icewind Dale RPG.

Feargus stated they are looking into making a smaller-scale Icewind Dale RPG in an interview with GB that was never published, as Buck reiterates here

This must happen. But won't :(

If you haven't installed SoA/ToB in a while, it installs on Windows 7 x64 and runs perfect in 1024x768 "unsupported" mode. :wiggle:

I really really hope they don't go down the route of small flash-based games for smartphones and the likes. such games can be fun and all, and it's a great venue for indie developers I understand. but these aren't games with very much depth and little replayability. not exactly what I'm expecting from Obsidian. especially not if it's to be an IWD game.

Yeah, if it doesn't come to the PC they can go fuck themselves. I don't want to buy some iphone or tablet or whatever to play a game which is supposed to be a cRPG... :|

I'd love for them to do 3rd person rpg for tablets. It's the PERFECT medium for niche games like that. Same with turnbased strategy. I'm finding myself playing more and more on my ipad and less console and PC.

so what you're saying here is that you'd love rpg's to become even more casual?

Actually tablets have a market so vast that a lot more stuff than casual games ends up on there. Jeff Vogel's games are gonna end up there from now on, and while you could argue that his design is not as hardcore as it used to be, he's certainly not writing casual games.

Quite the contrary for every Angry Birds or Plants vs. Zombies there are some really solid strategy games, like Great Little War Game and Battle for Wesnoth.
