Vault Tec Workshop

You know that quest for some ghoul chick to go through some underground passage by using a custom eyebot that sends out some sort of signal that turns rock to dust? (least I think it was that quest)

Yes, that was a quest, "The Big Dig", AKA the most glitchy quest I've ever seen. I've honestly never had any bug problems in 3 or New Vegas but this was my first major bug from the Fallout series. Essentially the ginger guy that owns the eyebot you were referring to just kept randomly going hostile for no reason, despite the fact I never shot him. Unfortunately he was marked essential, so I couldn't kill him. So I was stuck with this immortal bastard trying to shoot me every 5 seconds, and my last save was from like 30 minutes ago so I couldn't really go back. Eventually I fixed it by using the console to kill both him and Bobbi (the ghoul) at least 40 times before they both finally stopped aggro'ing. It was so frustrating. That's not even to mention the fact that the end of the mission glitched and wouldn't let me finish it because Bobbi broke. I had to use the console to end it.

Sooooooooooooooo I just noticed something in the trailer.

Remember how it was vital to the plan that you need that eyebot to even get to where you needed to go?

Well... I just noticed how in the Vault trailer the player is able to scrap a huge bit of rock that is in the way to unlock more passages by using Work Mode.

Did Bethesda just retcon themselves?

Not really. One of the last quests for the Castle, you use the workstation to clear some rubble in order to reach a door. It's just kinda dumb.

Because Bethesda no longer care about the lore or what is Canon, I now state, hand on heart, that Fallout 4 is officially non-canon.

How can it be? How can it be canon?
Nope, this game is non-canon.
Only canon games are 1,2,New Vegas and to a certain extend, Tactics and maybe parts of 3.

But Fallout 4? Never happened.

I would go as far as declare both games non-canon and rewrite parts of New Vegas to make it make more sense. But still, I agree with you.

Fallout 3 was a awful Fallout game, but there were some good moments and not everything was terrible, like: The pitt.

Although Mothership Zeta, vanilla ending or little lamplight just hurt the brain too much.

Fallout 3 (mostly non-canon)

Farcryout 4 (Completly non-canon)

Fucking shit, I guess they really did blow their load with Far Harbor now they're trying to pump out workshop DLCs. I actually like Fallout 4 and I have zero interest in Nuka World or this Vault building crap. Fallout 4 was disappointing overall, but by god the way it's DLC was handled is even worse. Far Harbor is the only one that is decent, Automatron was shit aside from the neat robot building which was already a mod, and these workshop DLCs are a waste of space on my hard drive. Fallout 3 is generally disliked around these parts, but fuck man at least all of their DLC was story driven (to varying degrees of success) and not pandering to the settlement building gimmick.

Did Bethesda just retcon themselves?
They did the same thing with water purifiers thus rendering the majority of Fallout 3 pointless. What was the point of risking your life for the GECK when some random asshole in the wasteland can build a purifier out of scrap?

I would just stick to Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas being canon,
I like Fallout Tactics and even some elements of FOBOS (the game itself is completely crap though) but if I have to make the hard choice I would even remove what Tactics references are made to canon. (it is not as if anyone would miss it as Tactics seems to be barely remembered any more)

Should the impossible happen (hell is already frozen over I think and geneticists must be close to creating flying pigs), and Van Buren/Fallout 3 as it was completely planned by Black Isle ever be released it could take the place of Fallout New Vegas.

But for now, just Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas. Nothing else exists beyond it.

The only way fallout 4 could be considered Canon, by any rational mind, is if only Fallout 4 is Canon. And here it's a conundrum as no rational mind would want that.

I'm really embarrassed for this franchise because I think it's one of the best RPG franchises ever made and now people who have half a brain and who start with Fallout 4 are going to think it's dumbed down trash with the worst writing, dialogue, and quests possible.

People who play Fallout 4 as their first Fallout game are going to experience the worst the franchise has to offer.

Thankfully the story and characters are so forgettable that the only thing that sticks with me from Fallout 4 is Kid in the Fridge and the Ancient Aliens.

EDIT: OH WOW I just read the description of this DLC on Steam. It really is the sims. Fallout is now a caricature of itself - a total joke.

Seems hearing about Far Harbor had died down completely, guess when you buy something like that for a good amount of money you feel embarrassed that Bethesda just took your money and gave you a stale fart in return.
Not sure why they didn't jut save it for last so that after they released all those microtransaction DLCs and lowered everyone's standards they could excite the NuFallout fans and disappoint them a little less with Fart Hardon with more sales then what they did.

Yeah I'm still giggling over all the people that were like "Far Harbour is going to be the saving grace of Fallout 4!" I bet they'll say the same about the themepark-themepark.

Really? It's that positive?

I think they might have tried to release all the microtransaction DLC, but since the Wasteland Workshop was received way worst than they expected, if they released more like it so soon they could actually make their fans realise how shit the DLC's are... So they launched the Far Harbour, as to appease the crowd and calm the waters... Maybe.

Some recent news and info about Vault-Tec workshop. Seems like they'll be tacking on a quest to the DLC and a supposed consequences based on your karma morality.

Still seems uninteresting. If I wanted to enjoy the features of Vault-Tec Workshop, I could go back to making a basement house in The Sims 3 and have all the Sims be stuck on treadmills forever.

I don't know why, but this guy might have the best channel on youtube.
He somehow manages to sound both uninterested and interested at the same time.
I can feel his frustration yet he is also somewhat excited.

Just the dry commentary really cracked me up.

OK, that guy's pretty awesome.

I've read all about the plans for this DLC and I think it'll be amusing but flawed. There's most likely chances of settlers spawning in weird places and having path finding issues, and I'm not a fan of the "vault attacks." I've got enough shitholes under attack already. The quest-line with differing rewards sounds interesting, more so than just playing Overseer as a dick. I like that we can just have a nice little vault, instead of the earlier implication of just being a jerk to settlers. I like that the vault will have most of the building materials needed [Seems like they finally figured out no one likes grinding just to build stuff].

One thing that does beg a question, is why didn't they bother to add a quest-line and rewards to the other minor DLC? The first one could have easily been tied to a construction site, and the last one released could have come with order requests for factory created goods. There's so many possibilities for amusing quests and odd encounters, had they used a little imagination.

Seriously? Vaults can get attacked too? What the fuck is that 15 ton vault door for then?

Anyways... this will never compare with vaults that are built inside the CK.

LOL this garbage paid mod DLC is already at more negative reviews than positive on steam. My favorite reviews so far:

1) No words, just a link to the Fallout New Vegas store page.

2) "This game is having a serious identity crisis."

What a disappointing pile of garbage this game turned out to be. Bethesda probably celebrating thinking it's a great game too.

"It's a great game guys, it's just not a good Fallout game right? Am I right??" No. It's a lazy cash grab $100 garbage collecting/crafting simulator with plastic mannequins for characters. It's Borderlands with much worse writing, dialogue and humor and with a crafting/garbage collecting mechanic attached.
