Video Games Industry - Discussion Thread

If you ever do make a game sure why not?

I wish I could just completely overhaul Fallout 3. Just completely remake the characters, the story and the world.

Seriously, who thought it would be fun to just walk behind Liberty Prime while it did all the cool stuff you were supposed to be doing? It'd be awesome if you infiltrated Raven Rock, found Eden, who you originally think is just some weird robot head on a platform. Then, once you instigate combat, Eden starts to rise up out of the ground and you realise it's a giant robot.

mod that do gameplay overhaul is one thing
but, story overhaul?

wow that gonna be new thing, in world of modding and only in a bethesda games

Would I think would have been more accurate is if Liberty Prime was really a Giant Todd Howard and he took shots at places like the Boneyard and Junktown and turned everything into a dialogue wheel and Legendary Enemies who drop a special weapon which does less damage than that baseball bat you're carrying.

But on a serious note, Boom! Boomy! Boom! Boom!
Remember how in New Vegas it took time and effort to get the big guys helping for you?
You had to do a quest where you made a choice to upgrade the securitrons or not and it was a choice that effected the rest of the game? It took who you were in alliance with and affected your relationship with a major faction? Not only that but you had to work before hand so you could hack the terminals to make the quest easier for you, or you could go guns in?
Well, Boom! Boomy! Boom! Boom! Find parts of Liberty Prime! Boom! He does everything for you! Boom! You don't need to do anything while getting to the final quest! Boom! Boomy! Boom! You have to fight Synths in a lab! Boom!

Seriously, do Bethesda think people are brain dead?

There are some story mods but I think you would need to completely overhaul the map so that it makes more sense. People don't build towns for the lulz. They build them for safety, for resources, because they have no other choice. Places like Megaton make no sense. I'd like to see proper roads and trade routes. Make this area look lived in.

Part of me just wants to sit and watch how this whole approach will turn out. Let's slowly turn every game into a multiplayer shooter because money! See what happens when everything is a multiplayer shooter with screaming kids and fast-paced action, where the only difference is the background aesthetics. Then all the indie spiritual successors, sequels, remakes and reboots get canned by way of lawsuits.

It would be fun to watch how all the sites like NMA reacts, and what the next step will be after that. Will the pure stupidity of such an industry finally be realised, followed by a revolutionary outrage that changes the face of gaming forever? Or will the entirety of the video games industry turn out exactly like Mike Judge's Idiocracy? O.o

Admittedly, I usually don't tend to take movies like Idiocracy seriously, nor take seriously the people who take those movies seriously, based on how it's comedy and taking it seriously is being extremely pessimistic and faithless in humanity. But there are so many similarities between it and modern society that it's difficult to differentiate where the line between satire and reality is.

Well, this certainly is an "interesting" article, by Alex St. John, co-creator of DirectX. Subject of controversy, lately. Personally, to be blunt, people with this kind of mindset can go fuck themselves.
