Want to work for Interplay?

On friendly wiki:

Jason D. Anderson, often credited as merely Jason Anderson, started out as a contract artist for Interplay on the USCF Chess project. He was later hired to design the engine, game world and interface for Fallout. After working on the prototype design for Fallout 2, Anderson left with fellow developers Timothy Cain and Leonard Boyarsky to found Troika Games. After Troika Games collapsed, Anderson left the game industry for a short time to sell real estate.

Interplay has recently reopened in-house development and hired Anderson as creative director for an unannounced non Fallout MMO .

O_o non Fallout MMO?

It's possible he is the leader of Black Isle, then it's natural that he is working on both games... Huh, considering that Interplay is actually doing two games, which seems highly unlike. Hell, it seems unlikely they are doing one, let alone two...

Let's see what Herve pulls of its ass this time...

Anyway, changed the wiki article a bit. It's the wiki after all...

How is the MMO market these days anyway. I thought it wasnt to healthy (for everyone except the WoW people and their kin), kind of makes me wonder "why" someone would want to make a fallout MMO.

Black Isle has been dead since 2003.
Hum... I think it was resurrected, at least I have the idea I read it somewhere...

Anyway, as I said, wiki's wiki.

Yes, but this game will be produced under the name of Black Isle Studios. I don't think that's been officially stated anywhere, but dem's the facts.

aronsearle: the MMO market is unhealthy but hyped. It's very attractive to investors much like the late 90's internet buble. Still, it's not impossible for an MMO to find a niche and survive, but it's a very crash-and-burn industry (auto assault, Tabula Rasa)

Pretty much like the console market. It's completely overcrowded, but it's still attractive for stupid know-nothing-at-all-about-games investors.

WoW was a fluke. IMHO poorly designed game - phat lewt grind - and I lost interest within 2 days.
I won't pay by-the-month for a game. MMO or not - Blizzard seems to have done very well w/ games like Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo. Why Pay by the month, anyway?
Not even a Fallout MMORPG will have me pay by the month. Period.

Uh, Tabula Rasa recently released and is doing fairly well, unlike Auto Assault which indeed crashed and burned.

One of its players told me it was relatively empty. I don't believe it's doing "fairly well", though not as badly as AA.

Hard to measure right after release for an MMO, though. Its durability is yet to be tested. But when you consider the pre-release hype, it's not doing great.

Getting second hand info from a digruntled player and having actually worked on the game (and I still keep in touch with the folks who continue to work on the game) are two very different things. It's true I'm not a big fan of TR, but just because I don't care for it doesn't make it a failure. So, you can believe a player running around in the game, or you can believe someone who's seen the numbers - your choice. It's not a landslide hit, but it's not anywhere close to being a failure that'll wash under the rug in 12 months.

They all look the same to me... Grind fests. When I see a MMORPG with little to no attention to combat and no level ups, then it's my turn.

Actually, I see some interesting MMOs like MMOFPSs (I don't know names) and the one about pirates and stuff that the codex covered, and they look nice. But the genre itself doesn't really make me buy those games as much as real RPGs do. It's like, I don't know, like they always promise more than they really offer. Will FOOL change that or the next game from Tim Cain? I hope so.

And I hope that they don't make it pay per play or any of that shit too. Because that's a sure bet I'm not buying them.

I need to get done with college already.

Ask yourself, would you honestly want to work for a business man who is notorious for ruining almost two companies and has managed to prevent having to pay his debtors and former employers through all kinds of tricks?
