Warhammer 40k thread!

Oh, well, if that's the case...I don't mind the fact that the maps are repeating, as you said, there's a reason for it, but I hate the endless stream of "optional" missions which get very boring after two or three times, yet net the best equipment.

But, if it has an Ork space pirate with a fancy hat, few bucks will suffice.

Even if the campaing is more or less the same maps i have gone trough it with every team besides those pesky eldars at least once! And the survival mode in MP is quite awesome even tho the normal MP is kinda meh.

Normal multiplayer is actually one of the most tactical rts games there are.

Even just watching matches on youtube is a treat.

Shame I never get around to playing multiplayer, install it and then my chums bugger off to something else by the time it's finished.
I needs to shout Krieg repeatedly at someone and spam Chimeras.

I'm about to start painting my Tau army, any ideas on a color scheme?

I was thinking Purple as the primary armor color.

Black as the cloth.

Chrome as the secondary color (where white would be on the default scheme)

Any thoughts?

I thought the Default scheme was a little too modern "tacticool" for my tastes.

Plus, with all the purple, some of the ships look like something from Halo.

That reminds me, I have an entire Tau army sitting in boxes in my shed that I haven't touched in 10 years, they're as fresh as the day I bought them.

And I've got a painted retinue of Dark Angels in my basement.

Seriously I do.

I also started painting a squad of Deathwing Terminators, but I can't remember if I ever finished those.

Gibe me pls.

Seriously though, any ideas on a color scheme?

As for colours, I'd use something that wasn't a "plz shoot me" variant. Look at tank camouflage, that'd be a nice choice and nod towards the shootiest army second only to the IMPERIAL GUARD.

Again, a bit too "tacticool" and like you said, similar to the IG.

I want something that looks Alien, or a specially crafted Hunters armor (Seeing as Fire Warriors are basically descendants of primitive hunters, and use Hunter-Prey tactics.)

I just want the next Gaunt's Ghosts book from Dan Abnett, about the rest I do not care. :>

Are the 40k books any good?

I do like the lore and stuff, is there any Tau based books?

Can all agree that 40k's universe isn't meant to be taken seriously (Well, originally for sure, maybe not now though...), with all that grimdark, it's impossible to be serious without being a complete fucking fool.

Also, anyone got any ideas for a terrain board?

I'm planning on making one, but I haven't decided what the biome should be.

I was thinking either a jungle with bizarre rock structures or No Mans Land with trenches and stuff.

I've only read Gaunt's Ghosts, Eisenhorn and Ravenor so far and I like them- even more than the games, as they have a tad more "realism" in it. Also they are often showing a bit of the normal life that the people in the universe have. In the games you only see battle here, battle there, it's as if there is nothing but people fighting... which doesn't make much sense in the end (well, the games are about fighting, after all).

So yeah, I think the books give a nice change of perspective here and there. Of course, also depends heavily on the writer. Some of the books are really shitty.

I'm not sure what you mean by tacticool.

You can try Aztec-inspired designs, like Jaguar or Eagle warriors.

By tacticool, I mean modern military camo and similar stuff.

I think I'll probably go with Purple and Chrome, for that Alien look.

I do like the first pattern you suggested, I think I'm gonna use a dazzle camouflage pattern for my Pathfinder team.

This is going to be the standard colors for my Tau Fire Warriors (Instead of grey there will be a light chrome color)

Any Ideas on Terrain? I'm totally unsure whether to have a jungle with bizarre rock structures and a big amazon esque river, or WW1 styled No Mans Land with some trenches and pits.
