Wasteland 1 Remaster - In progress

I would prefer improvements on the existing game than a complete revamp. The art style is one of the best qualities of the game.

Pictures like this are what convinced me the most to play the game, despite the gameplay limitation and the not completely original plot.

They create a very unique atmosphere that i am very unlikely to see in current era games. They convey strong feelings without showing you the whole thing, and they are dirty enough to create an entirely different world, with its own grain and visual presence.

the portraits in wasteland are awesome but to me the game looks unpleasant outside of combat and dialogs. maybe the remaster won't drop the portraits and just come up with new ones?

Considering they did a (fortunately optionnal) downgraded version of the portraits in the first remaster, i doubt they would use the same art style.

Is Brian Fargos twitter profile pick any indication of how the portraits in WL1 remaster will look?

Why don't they just add a filter to pixelate it? Flash art is the worse...also destaturate that shit.

Honestly thinking of picking it up.
I've tried to play the OG Wasteland a few times but I just can't get my head around it.

It's a great game, but yeah, takes a while to get used to. But it's genuinely interesting and fun to play.
That being said, the map design in the remaster is still bugging me. I'm fine with the updated art tho.

It didn't really click for me until I got more than 5-10 hours into it. Just really use that imagination even more in this game since everything looks very simple compared to what we're used to. I'd imagine that will still apply with the remaster but not as much. There are some really cool moments in the game.

I played Wasteland when I was 16 years old. Back then, I had a lot more time, patience and willpower to go through older titles. There wasn't a remaster even, so I had to dig through abandoware and dabble with DOSbox to get it to work, which I was kinda proud of since I have had little experience with that sort of stuff.

Nowadays, I definitely wouldn't bother. Too lazy.

At least now you get music and it's bundled with DOSbox. I would have to really want to play a game to seek it out like that again. Though messing with DOSbox was fun and probably helped push me into more of the world of working on computers for a living.

I know that feeling, I had that with a lot of older DOS games and console games.
These days I find it sometimes hard to focus on one title for hours, let alone days.

Yeah, me too.

I blame it on the fact that I don't have that much free time on my hands, naturally, and on the fact that I have tooo many games already. I stat playing one, wondering all the while how does that other game I haven't yet tried look...so I start playing that one too.
Too many different games I've began playing, not many I've finished.
