Wasteland 3 announced, crowdfunding campaign to start on 5th of October

No because nobody's actually played the game and most folks have laughably overreacted to the new features.
Can you blame them :/.

When ever I hear "resource management" and "settlements" I am kinda feeling triggered ...

Fair enough, but I have a more wait and see view on things, if it winds up being shit then that is unfortunate. I can't immediately write something off based on the sins of others.

Sure, release is said for end of 2019. As things went, probably even 2020. Plenty of time to wait and see.

When I first heard of it in FO4, I knew that it would be a bad idea and it was a bad for the same reason that I thought was going to be. Even MattyPlays who called FO4 a "near perfect game" could only say that it was optional (From I heard, it wasn't.). If something doesn't even work in paper, it probably wouldn't work in practice. Take this paper for example. A last-come, first-served system is deeply flawed even under the most shallow inspection.

2 mil in a day ain't bad. Given the amount of negativity floating around about the project and the funding platform, that's damn impressive. I guess that just goes to show how insignificant the forums and commentors really are.

1,5 or so million are investors who had access to the page already before. :>

Both of those are better games than WL2, from what I've seen.
Underrail is definitely the best game of 2015 for me, yes. But WL2 wasn't all that bad.

Of course. The negativity you're talking about only exists on forums like these. Even in cRPG circles sites like the Codex and NMA are considered to be filled by whiny, elitist neckbeards. Rightfully so, I might add. This isn't a bad thing, but seriously, we do whine a lot about trivialities. Look at this thread for example. We've already damned WL3 for catering to console kiddies, dumbing down, going the F4 path and whatnot without ever seeing any in-game footage at all, let alone playing the game, or having any real information AT ALL. Also, don't expect the rest of the internet to agree with the general consensus here. While we tend to over-criticise any RPG release to death, including Wasteland 2, the metascore for that game is still a solid 81/100. That probably means it's a pretty decent (or perhaps even GOOD) game that people tend to enjoy.

Don't get me wrong, I like NMA, its people and its opinions, but I like to keep in mind that we're a special bunch, with special needs and expectations when it comes to games and especially RPG's. Most people don't care as much about the details in a game as we do, so don't expect the gaming industry to cater to our very specific needs, and don't condemn a game as soon as it promises features that we aren't used to. I think most people who played WL2 are pretty stoked about a sequel and would be willing to pay for that too.

We'll see how it turns out. It could be good, it could be bad, but either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Fair enough. I like NMA as well. Folks around here are the right amount of crazy. I tend to stay away from the Codex, but that's me.

Yeah, NMA is filled with dirty liberal hippies when compared to the Codex, but still, we're a bunch of weirdos with weird demands when it comes to gaming. We could just take it easy and enjoy games for what they are, but for some reason we expect the holy grail of cRPG gaming with any release and get sorely disillusioned with anything less. This leads to disappointment after disappointment.

But WL2 wasn't all that bad.

It's far from a bad game. It's a good game, for the most part, but its sin is that its good points are often overshadowed by completely stupid design decision, and the overall game suffers as a result.
Overall, the game is good, but for me, it failed to grab me. Simple as that. To illustrate the point - I played Wasteland day and night until finishing it, and I have been dragging on with Wasteland 2 for half a year now.

How does that feel? When you continue playing it, do you just continue normally, or do you end up forgetting some details and your experience worsens even more?

Nah, I rarely forget details since I play video games very rarely, so details are natural to me, or rather remembering them. I guess it's a must.
On the other hand, I usually check my game log and journal first, if there's something confusing there, I check wikipedia etc.

But no, in general, it doesn't worsen the experience. Sometimes it improves it since if I do forget something, it's usually the bad stuff. Majority of the games I've played in the last 4 years have been played that way.

I missed it by 1 day. But if Wasteland 3 is going to be like Wasteland 2, then I'll happily pay for it.
