ways in which fallout 4 improved over new vegas

But they had so long to work on fallout 4 and so more experience with other projects !
Yeah, but... They kinda suck. And their fans suck even more. They like dumb shit. Although Fallout 4 appears to have been too dumb for even some of their more hardcore fans start to be pissed off.
And they worked so long on Fallout 4, but with how many people? Bethesda (the developer) never really expanded, they just don't have many people working for them. Especially not in the writing department, or in Q&A.

In comparison, Obsidian only had about 18 months and a new engine they needed to learn how to use. Within that time, they made New Vegas which is regarded as the superior Fallout game in comparison to 4.

Bethesda had 5+ years, 'experience' and New Vegas as a template on what to make for a Fallout game. The result is the product we got today. Besides, Bethesda's only real good project was Morrowind (Oblivion and Skyrim pales in comparison to Morrowind even with Morrowind's combat and issues in mind) and that was the result of them actually going all out with effort alongside a good team of writers due to the failing state of their company at the time.

The developers themselves like dumb shite. Their marketing has stated they "don't have the attention span" for long dialogue and enjoy "just walking away" from it and skipping it entirely. And yet they try to make RPGs. LOL.

If only they'd "just walk away" from Fallout and do whatever it takes to get Obsidian to make another one.

I would consider myself a fan of the Bethesda all be it not impressed with fallout 4. I would imagine fallout 4 the worst fallout slightly above BOS. I have played fallout 4 alot so I can make good comment but after playing it i can make a far assessment. I'd rather be on my laptop now modding FNV than playing fallout 4. Fair enough I played fallout for 5 days x amount of hours but i rember have in two character on FNV above 100 hours and all the 60 hours character ect. So i defintly fallout 4 is a shallow for a Fallout game the map is pretyy big but for me not as big as either fo3 or NV escapaciily in terms of depth it feels much smaller. Put 3 hours hours into another character on fallout 4 yeah waste. I could download Nuka world but as it destroys the mintue lore i built myself up yeah its done. The only reasson i played fallout 4 was settlment building and building up the settlment. If you don't do that you've literally got a 30=40 hour game if you do brotherhood steel and yeah thats it. The mintue man faction idea isn't even that bad at all its just anyoung that settlment system does't work ect and even treats you like a little bitch. Just makes no sence so for me i completely avoid the whloe of fallout 4 story have't finished as the mintue men ending is bad and will mess up my settlments. I realised i had an adiiction to building settlment to build something that should of been in the game to begin with

But yeah I do like other Bethesda game e.g Oblivion Skyrim dishourned and some other shit the have done. But yeah they really fudged up something that should of been there best game yet but there you are.

oh yeah cuz they publish games aswell my bad still publish or whatever kinda a brand i don't know. Morrowwind is a great achivement escapicly for 2002!

I used to like Bethesda. Morrowind is still one of my favourite games. But Oblivion was a huge let down for me, although I did enjoy Skyrim again.
Dishonoured was only published by Bethesda, not developed by them.
The Bethesda games that I love now are only published by them, not developed by Bethesda Game Studios - Wolfenstein: The New Order, New Vegas...haven't played Dishonored but it looks good. Wolfenstein: New Order had better writing than Fallout 4, which still baffles me. It's a game with axis moon bases and still seems more grounded and believable than Fallout 4.

Morrowind with the MGSO 3.0 Overhaul is still better looking and more interesting than anything BGS has made. I personally think it looks better than Skyrim. And Skyrim was a big disappointment for me. I discovered the writing was really childish and dumbed down. I was made head of the Mages Guild for very little reason other than the new standard Bethesda "you're the hero of everything" crap. Same with the other guilds. Dark Brotherhood was a step down from Oblivion with its fairly interesting Dark Brotherhood questline.

Then there's the crappy "puzzles" and so many other things people have already discussed. Skyrim was really a herald for Fallout 4. Better writers and quest designers would fix most of these issues in my opinion.

I'm kinda half half with Bethesda.
Morrowind I'm finding to be really good, and I even enjoy Oblivion.
Fallout 3 was just above average for me, but then Skyrim brought that back down to Average.

But Fallout 4 is just far below average it's upsetting, cause there are moments that shine in the game, but they are too far and between to really have any effect.

There does seem to be a bit of a downward spiral that Bethesda seem to be taking. But I feel like they've had enough chances to pull me back in.
I can let Skyrim side and even Fallout 4 to an extent, but their DLC practises have left me annoyed.

Exactly DLC practises are not what we would expect from them either as there was good DLC for fo3 and skyrim and oblivion.

Fallout 4 should just be better becasue they had so much practise on other games that are so similar they have literally realesed some rally game and that was the only non open world game they have released. So fallout 4 should be there best game yet.

For me personally i like every bethesda game up to fallout 4 and i brought that and played it for awhile so yeah but it the worst game they have ever made probaly even worse than that rally game they made.

I will still give them another chance though. I think they to do some thinking. Pretty much next game they make will make tons of money whatever it is really. So what they need to think is this 'Do we go to the masses or Do we make the masses come to us'. You make a good game not a game people will think is good

  • Radroaches can now crawl on walls (I find this really awesome I don't know why)
  • "Dogmeat" can drag people to the ground now.
  • Deathclaws pick you up now (I feel like this should've been insta-kill though)
Roaches on walls are similar to the ambush rigging in Skyrim with Spiders, Draugrs, Rieklings, Skeletons etc. There is a warehouse cell in the CK that has the trigger and event sets to copy paste to have them appear they are on a wall, in the ground, in a web, in a coffin, in a barrel. This can be done for things like Scorpions, Zombies, Molerates etc, etc. I don't find this impressive because it is the same system used in Skyrim.

Dogs, Deathclaws, Bloodbugs, Assaultrons, Synth Gen 1 and I'm sure others force the player into a rigged combat animation that makes the two actors connect or interact in battle. This is actually an improvement and something previous games did not have. Dogs in previous games would literally bark attack before, though I prefer the older Deathclaw models, combat and AI better in NV. Fallout 4 turned most creatures into whack a mole creatures, and this was referenced in the last DLC, adding to the insult.

Almost everyone in Fallout 4 has a great ass.

I'm a sucker for companion affinity, but I don't know if it was better in Fallout 4; the affinity system was just a lot more in your face versus New Vegas. The interaction between companions was better in this game. I think only Arcade comments on ED-E and Rex and the other companions don't say much else about each other. It would have been interesting to see a companion react to how the Courier interacts with ED-E or Rex.

Same, the new Deathclaw model feels way too large for the environment it's thrown in, and more than enough times, sends Deathclaws flying upwards into the sky when fighting them as an Unarmed player. Another issue I have with them is their animations. Some of the swipe attacks (light swipes) are absolutely pathetic looking, it's as if the Deathclaw is hardly putting any effort in killing a tough prey to have food for another night, meanwhile the NV/F3 Deathclaws are putting every ounce in their hits, winding up and lashing to the point you're thrown backwards from the force, especially the infamous "Hug of Death" leaping attack which made many players unprepared by the sudden ground covered by the Deathclaw, and end up becoming mince-meat. Instead, we get a Deathclaw that winds up attacks, shows small effort in attacking with light hits, and has a stupid roaring animation when it initiates combat, which as a predator, is ass-backwards. A Top predator would prefer stealth over presentation if it wants to live another day and not starve out.

The only time roaring or any sort of presentation is used..is usually used by the Prey to scare the predator off or make it hesitate from striking. Or mating.

I won't. They'll have to work really really hard to make a worthy entry to the Fallout series if they want to see my money.

Besides if they know they're going to make a lot of money with the next game regardless they wont put any effort into it.

They had a chance to learn from Obsidian and chose not to. They had every opportunity and chance to succeed. And I feel bad for anyone who bought the season pass, what a joke. If I wasn't adverse about spending money on Bethesda games before I sure as hell am now.

Oh that's right, we're talking about things we like about FO4... hmmm *thinks*... I like how you can actually kill Emil in the game. I'm not sure how it's an improvement over New Vegas, but it sure was satisfying.

Well, in NV you can technically kill J.E.Sawyer, but why would you do that? D:
