What are your favorite albums?

Compelation or greatest hits CD's should not be allowed IMHO. I own Legend, and it is fantastic, but not fair, individual albums only I think.

Another favorite: Mellon Collie and the Infanite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins.

My top five, in no particular order:

Megadeth - Youthanasia
Iced Earth - Dark Saga
Rage - Black in Mind
In Flames - Whoracle
Darkane - Expanding Senses

I've listened the crap out of these. An honorable mention has to go out to the new Megadeth album, which given time will have been played more than these five combined.

Make things difficult for me :-) It would be between Exodus, or Uprising. But my favorite song is stir it up from catch a fire. Hmmm. Exodus me thinks.

Gah. Best ALBUMS? I never really listen to whole albums... i always gravitate to making/buying collections.
But here goes.

1. Viikate: Surut pois ja kukka rintaan (Sorry, but it rules)
Sentenced: Funeral Album
Marilyn Manson: Antichrist Superstar
Audioslave: Audioslave
Green Day: American Idiot (Damn, i'm going all emo :D)

Of course. Heaps of bands write 2 or 3 really good songs, but a really good album is much better way to seperate the great bands from the rest...
And then there are the bands that make many good albums - the best of the best.

Heh, tough one. Too many great albums...

So, in random order, five of my favorites:
Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Megadeth - Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
In Flames - Whoracle (Including Black Ash Inheritance)
Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden

And a few more to balance it all out:
Chimaira - The Impossibility Of Reason
Death - Human
Machine Head Burn My Eyes
Nevermore - The Politics Of Ecstacy
Testament - The Legacy
Strapping Young Lad - Alien
The Haunted - One Kill Wonder

another one of those "what’s your favorite (insert subject here)" thread.

Yes it is Sovz. But because this is GD (and people are interested in the topic) this is perfectly fine. If you don't like it, that's fine too. But was your comment really necessary?

Oh fuck. After reading a few posts I recognized that I actually forgot to mention Master of Puppets. How could I ever? Stupid me.
Those milestone of Metal, and I just forgot it. It makes me sad, really.

Another vote for Eric Clapton's Unplugged.
Chicago- The Chicago Transit Authority
Sublime- Sublime
Jeff Buckley- Grace
Cake- Fashion Nugget (though most of their other material is really good)

There are definitely others that I forgot, though.

hmmm....I can't think of what I like best so in no particular order:

Einherjer - Blot
Rammstein - Herzeleid (It's not the best album, but it's the first one and well, yeah..)
The Kovenant - S.E.T.I.
Metalica - Black Album
Kaizers Orchestra - Evig Pint

hard to decide for me

(five... in no particular order, of course)
Tactical Neural Implant - Frontline Assembly
KMFDM - Angst
Now It Can Be Told - Devo (Live)
UFOrb - The Orb
Ghost In The Machine - The Police

I realize that and you’re right, but don’t you think that having "The Obligatory "What are you listening to" Thread" is enough?

but hey, what do I know

So it is, but it's kind of moderate the "obligatory" threads, as people like them and they die for lack of interest at some point, anyway. Hopefully.

Content is made by the posters, if you want better threads, start better ones ;)

No Particular Order:

- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by the Smashing Pumkins

- Jazz in Paris: Louis Armstrong

- Tom McRae's debut album (I don't think it has a name)

- No More Loud Music, dEUS (a Best Off CD)

- In Utero, by Nirvana.

Not that I rly expect anyone to actually read this, though.

Sweet Jesus Jebus, all of those would be in my top ten. I'm particularly pleased at your top two: I was debating both of them for my list.

Well, in that case music is something we can agree on!

Who would've thought we'd ever agree on anything! :D

Pink Floyd - The Wall

Led Zeppelin - IV

Queen - Any-one-out-there

Green Day - American Idjit

Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers par exemple

That's what I can think off right now.

Why Louis Armstrong over Miles, BTW? I love Louis Armstrong, but IMHO it's impossible to top Sketches.

Ehehe, I was actually pretty close to adding Miles Davis: live in Olympia - Mar. 20th, 1960 - a brilliant double-CD, feat. John Coltrane - on my list, but on the very last moment I decided to add In Utero instead...

And Louis had to be on there. I've been waking up to 'When you're smiling (the whole world smiles with you)' for two years now :D
