What is your favorite weapon from any game/tvshow/movie?

Isn't all the technology that we use to kill people neato!!

anyways, I don't see how the bayonet would be real useful on an OICW.

And why is that?

Mohrg

I doesn't look like it would be that useful since the weapon has a stocky build and bayonets tend to be more beneficial on longer weapons. It seems like the bayonet would be more versitile without attaching it to the gun.

Then it would be called a knife....

yes Cpt. Obvious it would be called a knife. My point is that there doesen't seem practical for a bayonet to be used on a weapon like the OICW.

The bayonet is a tradition, it has to be on every U.S. Army weapon.

There are no such things as traditional weapons in modern warfare (with the exception of ceremonial porposes). A soldier wont carry a useless hunk of metal, when he could be carrying extra rations, ammo, etc.

When did this turn into a 'what is your favorite weapon' thread, instead of '...in a game, movie, or tv show'?

For real life weapons, I'd have to go with the M14- for the record, it was in Rogue Spear...

Another weapon concept I like is the Mateba revolver, which is the only semi-auto revolver. It's what Vash's pistol in Trigun is based off of.

I'm not too knowledgable about the military or weapons, but I do remember in the book 'Black Hawk Down', the commander was kicking himself for not forcing the rangers to bring bayonets, as they were running short of ammo... (but then again, they probably could have picked up the 1000+ AKs that were dropped)

I liked the katana and how it worked in mgs2. Pity you only use it for about 5 minutes.

The gasoline was good in postal.

I liked the cannon/shotgun thingy in sof. Was a good gun that felt 'solid' and did a decent amount of damage.

The Kebab Skewers in Ichi the Killer. The Lawnmower from Braindead. The whip from Indiana Jones.

My favorite game weapon has been the sawblade thrower from Redneck Rampage. That game was fun (especially since I grew up in an area that's pretty much redneck trash) and had other great weapons as well (like the machine-gun bra)

Movies - I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the ZF-1.
Zorg: Voila: the ZF-1. It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying; good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into 4 parts, undetectable by x-ray; ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Three thousand round clip with bursts of 3 to 300. With the Replay button (another Zorg invention) it's even easier. One shot, and Replay sends every following shot to the same location. And to finish the job, all the Zorg oldies but goldies. Rocket launcher. Arrow launcher, with explodin' and poisonous gas heads. Very practical. Our famous net launcher. The ALWAYS efficient flame-thrower. My favorite. And for the Grand Finale, the all new "Ice Cube System!"

Game: Shotgun from any game, especially Halo. The Redeemer and the Zoom Instagib Shock Rifle from Unreal Tournament 2003.

TV Show: The Jaffa staff weapon, the zat'ni'katel, and the Ribbon Devices all from Stargate SG-1. Duncan Macleods katana from Highlander. Can the sub from SeaQuest count too?

Movie: Lightsabers, hands down. The Predator's disc and shoulder mounted plasma caster. And lightsabers. And I'm gonna go with MrMarcus too, the Zorg ZF-1 is a wicked badass gun. Did I mention lightsabers?

Yeah lightsabers are probably the best movie weapons going, certainly lightsabers and Carrie Fisher in a metal Bikini are the only decent things to about the SW films :)

My favourite game weapon though must be the Desert Eagle in Opposing Force.

Best TV weapon has got to be the Bat'leth (me not a trekkie really :) .)

Wow. Those XM guns look badass. God forbid rappers get ahold of them.

The OICW looks kind of bulky and pointless.

If it lives up to its promises it will be anything but pointless and it's not more bulky than a M16 with attached grenade launcher, nightvision sights, etc. Not to mention that airbursting grenades would kick ass. A fire team with two men with the OICW and the rest using M8 variants would be deadly to say the least. The person calling it a Colt must be misinformed though since the assault rifle part is made by Heckler & Koch.

Elissar, look around the site http://world.guns.ru/assault/as40-e.htm the OICW is XM series.

All the XM means that it's under development, as soon as it enters service the X will be dropped. Doesn't mean that they are the same program.

My favorites:

Predator - The minigun. So what if it's impossible, Jesse still looked bad ass with that cannon.
Evil Dead series - The boomstick and the chainsaw.
The Highlander - The claymore, why MacLeod dropped that bad ass sword for a katana is a mystery.

Game:
I seem to remember a chicken in Heretic
tied with
red rider bb gun in wasteland

Movie, The big ass fish in Asterix

TV: Daniel Boone's tomahawk

I have to use your term sorry.
Yes Cpt obvious, when was the last time you heard of a bayonet charge? The only time bayonets are used is for ceremonial purposes. Infantry soldiers do carry knives, but a rifle mounted bayonet is pretty useless on a modern battlefield. If it is going to be a standard weapon for the infantry it has to have a bayonet for ceremonies.

Can't believe no one mentioned this yet: Blood 2's flaregun. It incinerates target upon impact and, if I remember correctly, it's alternative fire mode can unload its magazine of flares in quick succession.

Grrreat fun.

Never played Blood or Blood 2.

The Ballers and piano wire in both Hitman games rocked.

Not to mention the bayonet provides pretty good silent kills, and is handy in case you run out of ammo and/or are in a close combat situation like back in the days.

My favorite game gun, and all time favorite gun in real life is hands down, the M1 Garand. This thing is f***ing sweet! Target practice with this classic is like a nice glass of cold lemonade on a hot summer day, refreshing! But I still love the M-16a2 as well.

I think the little bugs from HalfLife were wicked, just picture having about a dozen of those suckers and tossing them in a room full of baddies. All you would have to do in the end would be to go in, finish them off and start looting.
Another cool weapon is the rocket launcher, I just love seeing those mutants glide across the floor for several yards, or, better yet, how about a body part cocktail?... blown up, not stirred :)
And how about one of those energy weapons from The Matrix, the ones on the ship, in the real world, those would be pretty cool.
I know this discussions is about weapons, but this is too good no to mention: how about the energy shields from HALO, the ones the monsters had, I'd love one of those!
And finally, I just love sniper rifles, especially a dragunov, like in JA2, with scope, laser sighting and bipod, it's a killer
