What is your favorite weapon from any game/tvshow/movie?

I can't belive I forgot the gatling gauss from FO Tactics, I mean does that baby clear a path or what?
Then there are those twin Berettas from Tomb Raider.
What about Blade's sword? It has nice hack&slash action!
There's also the Redeemer from UT, I just love a weapon that can kill the guy/mob around the corner!
I also love REALLY BIG REVOLVERS! You just have to love the sound they make when you cock them; don't you wonder why in the movies the good guy cocks the gun just when he's pointing it at the bad guy's head? Is that a terrifying sound or what?

Tell me, why would you need a scope AND a laser sight? Seems redundant. And the laser sight would be inneficant at long range unless your target just happened to be within a few (50) or so meters of where the laser's sighted at.

If you want to talk about sniper rifles nothing beats the H&K PSG-1 or Barret M-82A1. Both have made several appearances in games, PSG-1 in Metal Gear Solid 1&2. Barret in Hitman 2.

I guess if you want to make that all-in-one rifle then you would need a scope for recon and sniping, and the laser for other obvious reasons.

Laser on sniper rifles is for measuring distance, at least on high end rifles.

It's a forumula for determining the range to something that has either a known height or width. A "mil-dot" reticle is one that has dots placed on it one milliradian apart (1/6400th of a circle or 17.777 degrees). You look through the sight, see how wide/tall something is, then extrapolate from Range (in 1,000s of meters) = Width (or Height, whichever you're sure of)/Mils.

Some people prefer to rely on gadgets, but I'm of the mind that you should still know how to do it the "old fashioned way". Otherwise as soon as you drop your expensive toy you're SOL. Not to mention that lasers have problems, especially in dusty/smoky conditions or if there's lots of intervening things like foliage.

Give me an M4A1 with an M68 and a PAC4.

Dove can back me up here. Nothing like MOUT training at night with your NODs on with your M4's PAC4 glowing from the hip...

"CLEAR!"

The M249 SAW though, has always been a favorite weapon of mine since they taught us how to use it in Basic Combat Training.

You are supposed to shoot it in nine round bursts; to help aid in timing nine rounds, we were taught to shout:

"DIE MOTHERFUCKER, DIE!"

It takes approximately the same length of time to shout that as it takes a SAW to spit out nine rounds down range. Fun stuff.

Ok. Maybe the laser sight was overkill, but when it comes to gadgets I just can't help myself... :obsessed: I picked the Dragunov because when I played JA2 for the firs time the shop on the net was stocked with russian weapons, AKM and it's many variations, Dragunov and other ones wich didn't really catch my eye...
As for the old fashioned way I think that OnTheBounce is right, it's always good to have a low-tech backup for these things...
I haven't seen the H&K PSG 1 or the Barret M-82 A1, but if you know a site where I could get a good look at them please tell me about it.

It was really cool. We only had about 8 SAW's in the whole company, but it was really cool sounding hearing eight guys shouting "DIE MOTHERFUCKER, DIE!" over the staccato of machine gun fire.

The 249 is still my favorite toy as well. We were taught to time our bursts by saying "Kill a family of 5" in our heads though.

Any WEAPON, as in not just guns? That's easy, then: I want Ash's chainsaw hand!

screwheads.jpg

Groovy.

How about the cat silencer from Postal 2? I was laughing so hard I was crying the first time I used it. That and the anthrax-infected cow head. There's a reason why it was developed by a group called Running With Scissiors... they're insane!

Also, how 'bout the Link Gun from Unreal Tournament 2003? It's like a rapid-fire plasma rifle, but in team games, you can use it to regenerate a comrade's health.

Come to think of it, the akimbo Colt .45's from Serious Sam are also memorable. And the railgun from Quake 2 and Quake 3. Man, there are so many good ones... 8)

EDIT: Crap, forgot about the twin blades from BloodRayne. Slicing and dicing Nazis has never been as much fun. And of course, the sniper rifle from the Silent Scope series. 'Nuff said. :)

The dwaren claymore from morrowind, the daedric dai-katana from morrowind.

The belly of the pakistani dad in jalla jalla (i`m working on this one though, soon there)

A dragunov (yeah i have played JA2)

A light saber.

The holy handgrenade of antioch.

A t-34

The mammoth tankses from red alert 2

Bah! Real men use mil-dot reticles and the WORM formula!

Real riflemen can judge distance out to 1000m with an accuracy of +/- 25m.... Of course, any self respecting sniper would leave all the "Hollywood" semi auto sniper rifles at home and be leopard crawling through the foliage with an L96 cradled in his/her arms.

Favourite movie gun = the MP40 used by Clint Eastwood in the school bus escape/chase scene from "Where Eagles Dare". It appears to have a 200 round magazine and can take out Kubelwagens at 300 metres without much in the way of aiming being required...
