What is your job/occupation?

As for me, I studied physics with a focus on experimental condensed matter physics, and now I'm a research engineer/scientist developing laser systems technology.

Gordon Freeman?...

You joined the forum in 2003 and waited 13 years to start posting. That is serious dedication.

Hey! I actually did a total of two posts back in the day in 2003 =) After Van Buren got cancelled and Bethesda acquired the Fallout license I lost all interest in the future of Fallout. A couple of months ago I started to wonder (like just out of the blue) if NMA is still around and to my surprise it was. I was even more happy to find out that NMA hadn't evolved to Bethesda lovin' fanboy site. This didn't surprise me thought because...well this is NMA after all =)

I'm still in a bit of a shock because Roshambo is not around anymore... Man I miss his posts in which he obliterated some idiots in this forum back in the day.

He actually contacted the staff/me over Google+ to recover his old account from 13 years ago (with two posts on it!) as the email adress associated with it was dead instead of just registering a new account. Proper dedication right there.

And thank you again for helping me in this matter! I could have just registered a new account but I guess I don't like to do things the easy way =)
Jonsson,

welcome back.

Thanks! Its good to be back!

I am working for a trading company, basically my job is looking for orders and pass the orders to the factories and make some money. As you know, there are a lot of factories in China.

Graphic designer. Make logos and drawings
Oh, welcome to the NMA forums Dracomies! New Vegas Redesigned is one of my top 5 mods, I simply cannot play the game without it now. Amazing work, thanks a lot for doing it.
Graphic designer, then. I worked with a few on some projects a while ago. Seemed like an intense, exciting job, but with some very difficult clients from time to time, who don't understand that the Adobe suite is not a magic tool that can do anything in a matter of hours.

Rejoice, Van Buren is back, now, kicking ass and taking names. And NMA is still standing. Remember, "we were here before the fall" :) I only joined recently, but I followed the forum for years like some kind of creepy stalker.

Wow, some people here are way younger/older than I thought.
Surprised there are no whores/gigolos.

I'm a medical student.

I am a Graphic/Web/Virtual/3D Designer. I do Corporate indetitites (Logos and shit), I design and code Websites (I have a diplomate on HTML5, CSS and Jquerys. I can use Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla, prefer Joomla and absolutely hate Drupal), recently I have started making Virtual Learnning Objects (they are probably called something else in english but whatever) and I studied a lot of 3D design both for Movies, Architecture and Industrial usage, I don't do much professional work on 3D right now but I expect to change that in the future. I was Freelance for 3 years, unemployed for a full one and now I work on a small Software Development firm, doing contracts with Government organizations mostly.

My real passion lies in writting and drawing but that doesn't net you a lot of work here so that's more of a hobby right now but obviously I plan on becoming a published author in the future.

Just think it'd be nice to get to know the community a little better.

I'm a freelance graphic/web designer. Not much of a career, but it's worked out pretty well for me so far.

I got a BA in design and transitioned from doing graphic work to UI/UX work. Now I'm doing programming. My job is a blend of all the stuff I've done in the past, so it's pretty cool.

That sounds nice. Was the degree worth the time/money? I feel like getting one would open up a lot more doors for future opportunities, but then again I've heard from some people saying that getting a degree will just waste your time.

It's not a waste of time in the sense that your resume won't get passed over in the '6 second' screening process because you don't have a degree listed.

My job market is the Bay Area, so there's plenty of work but lots of rigid-hierarchy in the sense that your resume is getting seen by marketing/HR types, not designers themselves who probably value the portfolio more than anything. All of my interviews were with marketing/HR so they naturally look at the degree before the portfolio when screening candidates.

I'm still a Student at Uni.
I do Game Tech, but my wish is to eventually start up my own small game dev team and just pop out RPGs.
