What kind of weapons do you want to see in F3?

Is it really likely that an allready 60 years old soviet developed weapon will be widely used in the america 70 years from now?

It's only an opinion. Also, there was an FN FAL in Fallout 2 and Fallout 2 is canon.

XM-29 OICW, because there are already experimental weapons in Fallout 2.

errr... how many times have we been over this now?

Fallout3 Weapons

What I would like to see in fallout3 would be some good old American ww2 weapons... of course we will be geting the m16 and stuff from this era but there is still allot of ww2 weapons floating about today and it would be nice to see it in the game. :)

Oh yeah and the whole Nuke launcher thingy in fallout3 is silly... in my opinion.

What M16? WTF are you talking about?

I am talking about the standardized M16A1 assault rifle in 1967. I am sure that’s got to be in F3 because of it's popularity. It was in tactics and so it is most likely it will be in F3. ok? :)

Except for the bit where almost no one considers Tactics to be canon.

Star... wars!

Who the hell uses lightsabers in Starcraft, lol. Zealots?

First of all Lightsabers are not "force fields resembling that of a blade", they are compressed plasma. Nor do they change color according to your alignment. Exar Kun, one of the most infamous Dark Lords of the Sith wielded a double bladed blue saber, and several Jedi have had red ones as well. When Jedi turned, they'd either get a new one with a different color, or keep the one they've always used. Their alignment changed nothing about their weapons. Zealots on the other hand had auras of blue or red depending on wether they were regular "good" ones, or "dark" fallen zealots.

Second, I don't think of Star Wars as a game, I think of it as a movie. Yes, it has had games made for it, but Star Trek also has had games made for it; it still doesn't make the original concept a game. Also like I mentioned, the idea of a weapon changing color due to the alignment of the one wielding it isn't something attributed to Star Wars.

Third, I don't want any kind of beam-saber, or energy-blade, or other such thing ripped out of Star... anything. I think Mega-Fists and Super Sledges(the only reason I'd accept the Mjolnir idea) is stretching it enough as it is already.

Miniguns

.50 tri-barreled Miniguns should be cool, if added a consistant recoil sistem (maybe recoilless, ejecting the recoil with the bullet by the barrels of the minigun). Barret M107 is Bozar like, so it should fit.... AK47 and so shold be cool too.

What part of "real life weapons don't fit the fallout setting" don't you understand?

When it is the most-widely produced assault rifle in the world and probably will retain that title for a while because of it's production cost (I put all the various copies of the weapon in the same pile), I'ma have to say probably. When wars happen, people will try to get armed.

I want anything to be useable as a weapon. I mean if I find a limb that's been torn off then I want to be able to pick it up and hit someone with it. See that big rock sticking up out of the ground? I want to be able to break it into smaller pieces with a pick, and then be able to pick up those smaller pieces and throw them at enemies. See that car? I want to be able to tear off the door and use it as a makeshift shield. See that bottle of alcohol? I want to be able to tear off a piece of cloth (maybe from my baggy vault suit, lol) and make a molotov coctail with it. See my shirt sleeve? I want to be able to cut it off and then strangle someone with it.

Well okay maybe that last one is too much. xD

Furthermore... You see that building? Gimme a crowbar.. and let me take it apart and keep the nails for shrapnel in a homemade bomb. :-]

Eh you get the point by now. I want to be able to do stuff that Bethesda is incapable of putting in their game. *sighs* Guess I'll have to wait another 10 years for a game like that... But people will still be making dumbed down FPS games then too I suppose >.<

NERD ALERT! :aiee:

Ok, no, they don't change their color according to the user's alignment, that's true. But the three original colours (red, green and blue) all are specifically associated with either the dark side (red) or the light side (green, blue), and they are for a reason. While the weapon itself dosen't change it's colour, the wielder's themselves usually do so, so their weapon can reflect and show to everyone what kind of a jedi are they exactly.

And you can call it "mashed potato with cheese salad", if it shines, makes a "bzuuum" sound and is capable of cutting through hard stuff, it's a Lightsabre clone. :P

When i said "Star... wars" i meant KotOR. You could modify the colour of your sabre there, to fit your alignment/mood/whatever.

Phew. Oh, and read what Cheng wrote again. "Energy Saber"? Not "Energy Gauntlet with a Short Stabby Dagger Thingy".

I'd like to see something along the lines of an electrolaser, only 50s style. Basically a lightning gun that could have bonuses against robots and such. I'd really rather not see any modern assault rifles beyond chinese made AK type weapons. The M16 type assault rifles can't last 5 minutes in iraq never mind centuries after a nuclear war. Plus they're cheesy, dull and overused beyond belief. More 10mm pistols, fewer G11s.

In defense of the Fatman (yes, yes, I know), there are a couple of manners in which it could be used that make some vague sense. Judging by the size and probably weight of it it was designed for use by power-armoured troops. Since the FO universe diverged after WW2, we can assume that they stuck more to the old style battle tactics than more modern ones. The Fatman appears to have about the power of a mortar (from the size of that explosion) with some added radiation. A mortar weapon that can irradiate a small area and be carried by troops rather than towed about would be immensely useful for clearing out trenches and fortified positions, especially if your troops are wearing power armour, which gives them massive protection against radiation. Of course, that's only a reason for why the Fatman could have been developed, not how it will be utilised by Bethesda in Fallout 3.

I would be more than happy if they mixed all the weapons from F2 and Tactics. No more is necessary for me.

Gee, what is a rocklauncher?? A nuclear catapult? Come on!!
Do we need all these "fancy" stuff?
