What weapons would you guys like to see in F5?

I'm kinda hankering for more energy weapons with wooden furniture.
I always dug this one.

Well you suck then.

Tonto is right though, there needs to be more Wood N Steel Laser Guns and I don't mean let's just take a real gun and slap some pipes and tubes on it like star wars.

I mean that's basically what the Laser RCW is, but yeah. Honestly, energy weapon designs in Fallout have never been great. Plasma Caster, Plasma Defender, Regenerator Pistol/Rifle and maybbeeee the original Laser Pistol were good, but the rest are pretty trash. The OG Laser Rifle and the new Laser Rifle being particularly shit standouts.

@Atomic Postman what did you dislike about the laser rifles?

Original laser rifle was just the ballistic sniper with some tiny modifications. Lazy and not particularly strong design.

New laser rifle is literally just a block with a neat stock, and the design was so poor it wasn't until 4 that they incorporated iron sights. Laser Pistol is a shitter version, because it doesn't have the cool stock.

I thought Bethesda's laser rifle design is one of the best in media. The block body seems realistic as all the parts inside would probably look like this:

If you're mass manufacturing weaponry like this you would probably just have a cheap, easy to repair housing wrapped around it for protection and easy access to the parts. It's similar to jet engine housings. It's a good block.

It also makes for a good contrast to the plasma weaponry which has a more exposed look.

After watching the Mandalorian, I'm kinda hankering for more energy weapons with wooden furniture. Or really, just more variants in Energy semi-auto rifles

Although, I'm not sure if that would tamper with the "Space Age" vibe.
I think WW2 guns that shoot lasers look cool and all but I don’t think it would fit with the other energy weapons established in the series.

I wasn't suggesting that, but the wood furniture and sleek design generally
Okay I’ll admit I’m liking the idea more and more, I just feel like the guns have to be implemented in a lore-friendly way, if that makes sense. Like I don’t see energy weapons with wooden parts being used alongside the futuristic/industrial looking plasma and laser weapons in the US military. Although I could see a pre-war company like Winchester manufacturing a “hunting laser rifle” for civilian use that would look much like a traditional rifle. Or if wooden energy weapons were more of a post-war thing, being manufactured by Gun Runner-like groups from whatever material is on hand.

I guess what I’m saying is aesthetically they would fit the theme of the universe, but they are also aesthetically at odds with what energy weapons we’ve seen so far (other than the RCW)

Making them post war is probably a good idea. NCR already uses wood furniture for their service rifle.

I'm all for energy weapons and wooden furniture myself.
Talking about energy weapons, I would love to see Maser Guns. As in, microwave weaponry and general heat-rays.

More low-tier energy weaponry would be cool as well. I think the more powerful energy weapons should be midgame gear, FO1 and FO2 had a civilian model pistol in the Wattz 1000, and in-lore it was such a strong weapon that all the New Reno families gave them a wide berth. Yeah I know that due to mechanics, it was a lame gun. But looking at the stats and such, I'm pretty sure it was meant to be an equal to small guns handcannons like the .223 Pistol and the 14mm Pistol.

So yeah... imagine some dinky pistol the size of say, a .38 or .357 gun, packing firepower equivalent to a large-caliber hand-cannon. That's a CIVILIAN pistol. Imagine the police and military models.

I would also like to see this ol' baby back:

So cool it makes me want to time-travel and ask the FO2 dev to add it to the game and give it to the Salvatores. I mean, Laser Tommy Guns for the Laser Mobsters!

I want a robot gun that spouts out quirky lines, voiced by none other than Morty from Rick and Morty. He should have at least 40,000 lines and be extremely opinionated.

I like Fallout 3 and 4's laser rifle design. It feels industrial and suitably blocky, and well suited for an actual laser gun. I would have added some better sights and more noticable output optics. Like, a lens that spans the entire front face of the gun, maybe with an iris over it that only opens when the gun fires to protect the lens. The optics could be a viewfinder like in a camera, looking through the actual gun optics. Half trigger pull opens the main aperture a little to allow aiming, full pull opens it completely to fire. Or maybe a secondary optic so a soldier wouldn't have to partially expose the sensitive lens while aiming.

In general I'd just like more gun variety in the vain of the classic Fallout weapons, fictional guns from real world manufacturers that could have been made in the WORLD OF TOMORROW.
And power spears. Or shaped charge explosive spears.

More pre-War Chinese tech. You get cool glimmers of it like the electrified katana in the Anchorage DLC, Chinese Assault Rifle, and Chinese Pistol (which was shit, but the incendiary bullets variant was kinda cool), but nothing really besides that.
If you had a dungeon/location that was a pre-War military lab, and amongst the loot was some Chinese pulse rifle or whatever they were in the process of reverse engineering, that'd be neat, I'd think.

Wild Wasteland also needs a return, just for the sake of the wonky fire power that comes out of it (like the Alien Blaster).
