What would Fallout mean for your home town ?

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
If you had lived in the FO universe as the bombs dropped, what would have happend to you ? Rate your survival odds based on your proximity to decent targets.

Remember, the AU aspect of FO begains to occur sometime after WW2, so lets use that as the main deciding factor for targets, if you dont know what your area was like then, then use the current target value.

Ok, heres mine.

I live by an airforce base and major LockheedMartin construction facility (was the bell bomber plant during WW2), approx a mile away.
I'd proably suffer secondary blast efects and massive irradiation.
Im screwed. ( with real life tech, I'd be vaporised before I even knew it)

What would happen to you ?

I'd be dead. Seal beach NWS(which now containts the nuclear warheads for tomahawks) is 20 miles away, then you got pendelton to the south about 50 miles and all the naval bases that way, and theres old SAC base in riverside and March AFB about 50 miles away, El Toro about 5-10 miles away.. I'd say im a glowing wasteland O.o

I live about fifteen minutes away from Houston, so if anyone decided to strike there (it's got a decent level of likeliness) I'd probably be dead from fallout.

I live within the triangle formed by Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. And don't forget we got some American nukes stashed in Kleine-Brogel.
I'd be dead as a fly. Hell, I'd probably become a fly due to radiation.

Flyboy...

I live 15 minutes of car driving away from one of the big cities in Norway. Most likely I would have died. But maybe I would have gotten lucky and survived.

If I don't die by the blast, the radiation would probably break me.

I live close enough to Washington D.C. that I'd be atomized, directly under a nuclear bomb. The survivors would be breathing dust that was formally my body. At least it would be relatively painless.

Not much in my area worth bombing back in the 50's, unless cow pastures and pig barns were high on the target list. With prevailing weather patterns, though, we would suck up a lot of fallout from oil field strikes in Texas and Oklahoma. I would be a definate "ghoul" candidate...

Oklahoma has a major airbase and Tulsa is a major communications hub between the East and West Coast. Its probably the largest Fiber Optics hub in the Bible Belt.

The town I live in is 45 miles north of Tulsa, so assuming that the weapons are 50's grade, my chances of surviving the Holocaust are pretty good. Fallout is another matter, though. Considering all the "spare flesh" I've acquired, I can spare enough to burns. As long as petty morals don't get in the way, I have a decent chance of survival in this town of Baptists and Jehova's Witnesses.

Just be sure to stockpile lots of BBQ sauce!

Mmmmmmmmm...Baptist on a stick...

Heinz Smoked Honey BBQ Sauce.

Only the best.

For the Baptists, that would be best...

Hickory flavor would go better with JW's, though...

Seeing as the US actually planned to drop the A-Bomb on my city during WW2, I guess I would pretty much be fucked.

Err... Pali, mind enlightening us to what city that is, exactly? I remember that you live in Germany, so I would guess Berlin, but it's only a guess.

By the way, there is a great resource for people in this thread, at least for those who live in the United States. The website Survival Communities has a listing of all the states, with illustrations (by state) of projected nuclear strikes and the radious of effects from those strikes (the information is from FEMA). There is also a map of predicted Fallout patterns for the entire United States at the bottom of each state's webpage.

For example, the Nuclear Weapon Target Map for Virginia, I live east of Alexandria, where all the projected nuclear strikes cluster.

Well - living in Denmark, I'm pretty sure nothing would get directly bombed.

And even if there were strategic targets in Denmark, I only live in the 3rd largest city (some 200.000 or so with suburbs) so that would further ensure no direct hits.

So I guess we would just be killed by the radioative fallout from nukes devastating Germany :D
Or possible fallout from the destruction of Basebäk in Sweden, not many KMs from Denmarks capital

So likely we'd likely be reduced to a little Junktown

I'd be wicked screwed. The nuclear sub base / sub factories in Groton, Pratt and Whitney, the Emergency Oil Reserve base in New Haven, the Nuclear Power plantt down in New London. Not too mention that Hartford is the insurance capital of the world, and if the enemy wanted to wreak untold devastion on our economy, Hartford would be a prime target...and I live 5 minutes out.

Oh yeah, I'd be screwed anyway, cause according to that fallout map, I'm right in the direct path of any wind blown radioactive material.

according to the map... im pretty safe when the bombs are going off. I live aprox. where the blue x is.

but im in the yellow on the fallout map... so assuming i can get to a respectable fallout shelter, theres a good chance i would survive
