What would Fallout mean for your home town ?

Alright then. I'm somewhat safe.

Pretty screwed, unless I can get to the mountains north of Tucson.

I live in the centre of Sydney, and although we have a naval base next to the Opera House and at North Head, I don't think that it would be worth a nuke for military purposes. Half a dozen guys with C4 could wipe out our navy there. You can count our navy on your fingers.

Although our (conservative) government lives safely cocooned up America's arse, most of our potential enemies wouldn't nuke Sydney for a number of reasons.

1) Pine Gap (the US-Aus joint radar base for communication and missile guidance in the Southern Hemisphere), south of Alice Springs is pretty much in unpopulated desert.

2) Most of our potential enemies do not have nukes. We train Indonesian officers in Duntroon as part of a friendly exchange program.

3) The rest can't even find us on the map.

4) Nearly everyone lives on the fertile, coastal plains and nuking the productive land would be insane. We only have about 20 million people (only about 8+ in the 50s before the 'baby boom'), so conventional forces would be adequate to swarm us.

If someone did decide to nuke the CBD, I'd be vaporized along with my school. However, the Eastern Suburbs has a large Chinese and Jewish population, so it is most likely that we only have to worry about terrorists.

If the disaster scenario occurred as it does in fiction, I might die of radiation poisoning. This is because aliens/Communists/etc. are always kind enough to nuke the sprawling Western Suburbs so there can be a nice shot/book cover of a partially damaged Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The winds we have in Sydney draw pollution away from the city basin and Eastern Suburbs, where I live out west, so I might have time to escape. Therefore civilization would survive!

i live about 10 miles north west of Tucson AZ, in a town called Marana. there is a small mountain range between me and the city :D not much else tho.......

That's well and good, Fanatic. But in a NUCLEAR WAR there's not much concern over how much land you can take.

I wonder who would want to nuke Warsaw. I mean, the city's already fucked as it is. No need to nuke it.

Not to mention it was razed to the ground during WW2 (yes, worse than Dresden, thank you), and rebuilt.

Warsaw never dies.

And we always forget New Zealand.

Yeah, who the hell would even bother bombing that place. That and Tasmania. :D

I'm in Victoria, about 10 minutes drive from the city. If Melbourne is bombed, I'm done for.

It's hard to say what nuclear war would do to Denmark, really. We don't have any nuclear weapons, and as far as I know we don't have any chemical or biological weapons either.

However, in a nuclear war someone might decide to nuke us regardless, just to be sure. In that case I'd probably die right away, as I live close to the center Copenhagen.

Well, unless the Chinese really dislike musea, I guess I'd be safe.

our only naval base (if you can call it that) aint far away from Brugge Jebus, i guess you're toast

as for me you ask?

1) i live 40km from brussel, where the NATO HQ is, where a part of the body of the EU is, and so on. it isnt really a military target, but it would be a big hit for moral.

2) i live 50km from Doel, which is a nuclear powerplant

3) i live 100km from Kleine Brogel where the US nukes are stored

4) i live 40km from a VERY big civilian port (Antwerpen)

 i think you can call me a ghoul

if you consider todays ordnance, we'd even be toast if they only hit the surrounding countries tbh...

however, if you consider the fallout universe & background story:

1) NATO & EU is disbanded, no use in hitting something that isnt there anymore...

2) powerplant? bah doesnt matter, not really a target, although it might blow lateron if it's not shut down in time...

3) the US would've taken back those nukes a long time ago (at the beginning of the instability)

4) trade would be fucked anyway... why nuke a useless port?

army? belgium? we got 2 things our army is good at (maybe even best in the world): all kind of cargo drops with C130 Hercs (even the tricky low level shit, we excell at it) and disarming mines under all conditions (land & sea).

that makes us a pretty harmless country (although we have a very good weapon industry... but neither the US nor the Chinese would waste any nukes on us, if they could find us on a map in the first place). i might just survive this (to die from fallout coming from the UK (mostly from London probably), northern France, Germany and The Netherlandz (Amsterdam, Rotterdam?)...

Sorry for not responding; my Internet was/is screwed.

Err... Pali, mind enlightening us to what city that is, exactly? I remember that you live in Germany, so I would guess Berlin, but it's only a guess.

Nope. Stuttgart. As it were, Stuttgart would have been an ideal testing ground, as the city is succumbed by a large valley - perfect conditions for measuring the spread of radioactivity. If it wasn't for the fact that Hitler blew out his brains...

I live in Miami, FL....I guess that's enough for you all to assume that I wouldn't even know what hit me by the time i was just a pile of ashes

I would be fucked. I live three miles from Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station. I would not know what hit me. Then as someone said earlier Camp Pendelton is not far away either.

I'd be engulfed in a lightly radiated cloud of pot-smoke drifting south-east from Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but otherwise fine.
