The Geuzes are more expensive because they have more content per bottle (.375 instead of .3) and because they simply cost a lot for him as well. I know that he actually only makes a small profit on the Geuzes, less than on most other beers he sells.Audiostave said:Nice list, especially when it comes to the Geuzes, but also quite expensive (20-50% more expensive).
I've yet to try the Boerinneken and Braven, and I disliked the Gouden Carolus. Other than that, decent enough list, although Chouffe is a bit plain for my tastes. I would've placed the Barbar Honingbier and the Geuze on there, obviously. And the St. Bernardus should be higher up. Also, the Brugge Triple deserves a mention and the La Trappe Quadrupel as well.Audiostave said:You seem to know quite a lot about beer (more than me I dare to say after just reading 3 of your posts regarding the matter. Quite embarrassing for a Belgian ). I don't know whether anyone else on these forums is a beer fan, but for a possible future comparison, I'll quickly write down my top 10 all time favourite beers from all categories.
1) Rochefort 10
2) Chimay Triple
3) Boerinneken
4) Braven Apostel
5) Chimay bleu 9°
6) Delirium Tremens
7) Duvel (a classic)
8 ) St. Bernardus Abt 12
9) Gouden Carolus
10) La Chouffe
Just beware that they're not for everyone. They're really, really sour and technically spoiled. I love them, but I know a lot of people who hate them.Audiostave said:Oh, I will definetely start drinking some more Geuze, uptil now my experience with them has been limited to the popular Belle Vue variants, but I've heard many good things of the boon Geuzes too, especially, like you confirmed, the Marriage Parfait.
