Let's talk booze...
In my case, whisky. But I didn't think this would reach anywhere near critical mass as far as other whisky-drinkers goes so I thought a more general topic would reach more people. Pick whatever you like.
I've found out that my love for whisky has finally returned, after a dreadful 6 months. It was all because of a student party at Christmas, a friend came over from his usual foreign study place, brought a bottle of vodka and I opened some too many whisky bottles. After that night, I just didn't like whisky anymore.
But right now, I'm listening to some Paolo Conte, sipping some Monkey Shoulder to probably be followed by some nice Ardbeg 10 years old or my Lagavulin 16y. Music from a smoke-conditioned voice, whisky made with peat-smoke, 10 years+ of ripening close to the sea...
I’m generally not a boozy person. I don’t dislike beer, I like a well-matched wine to go with my meal, but I just don’t see where the craving for beer can come from. But whisky, hah, now there’s a drink. A finely tuned wonder, with an intricate interplay of tastes stemming from the various production processes, the water, the malt, the age, the surroundings, the peat if you like it. Especially the peat. Well, if you like it.
Yes, I quite like whisky.
Edit: Ah so here's my post. Bugger, I skimmed through the first pages in search of a similar topic, guess it was already there and I either missed it or was too happy with my glass. Sorry.
