5 years isn't that long in the gaming world, especially not for rpg's. A lot of the games that will be released in about 5 years are probably already in the planning stages. And I don't think much will have happened when it comes to AAA games, at least.
The indie and semi-indie scene will hopefully grow with some studios doing well and putting out some bigger games. So far, the rpg genre seems to have been relatively spared from the shovelware crap that every kid who just learned 3D and some scripting in their favorite game engine is selling under the Early Access banner on Steam. Maybe because an rpg, no matter how basic, actually requires some writing and planning, instead of just copying the latest fad, slapping some pixel-art or their cousins mad 3D-skillz on. So hopefully that will stay the same and the actual indie rpg's we get will actually have some thought and labor put into them.
It will be very interesting to see where especially Larian and Obsidian are. I hope they can move away from Kickstarter, but still remain fairly independant and create their dream games.
