Where would you set Fallout 5?

I would enjoy seeing a Fallout position around just right after the bombs fell, the game could start out the fallout 4 style where everything is the pretty 1950's propaganda/eugenics "perfect" world and then suddenly the player has to deal with the catastrophe that is now their existence.

While I know that is a bit out of depth with the established motif, I would also accept it focused around the Canadian border. Who else remembers the Canadian invasion encounter in the old games?

Personally I'd love to see a game set in Germany, the ruhrgebied maybe, lots of hot blooded politics you can play with, cool industrial scenery, I think it would be nice and new, as long as there are some talented and creative people on the development team of course

Somewhere like big mt. Where there's a legit reason for new technological wonders. Somewhere like boston! Yeah we could use the institute of l-- oh goddamn it bethesda! I've got some potential over at my house you wanna waste that too?

I'd like to see one in Orleans, that way they can reverse their naming convention; instead of calling locations "New Insert Name" (New Vegas, New California, New Reno) they can call it Old Orleans.

If it were a West Coast game then either Washington (Let's get that nuclear winter!) or something different like Hawaii. A West Coast game would almost definitely be an Obsidian project so I think it'd have to be something within their travelling range... Not sure if Hawaii is close enough for that but I feel like they'd want to get something different out of the setting than what they got in New Vegas.

East Coast, there's really no answer beyond New York. Bethesda may be shitty at RPG's but they make decent enough sandboxes. I think they could make a cool post-apocalyptic New York even if the game itself would likely be a letdown to long-time fans. The only reason I could think not to is that New York is so huge that the next one would unrealistically dwarf the setting (see: Oblivion's Cyrodil and Skyrim's... Skyrim.) but that's a pretty weak reason. I can't really think of any other places on the East Coast worth visiting. Puerto Rico, maybe.

New Orleans.

With witchdoctors and a strong Voodoo religion (could even have ghouls not being discriminated), gumbo, english and french speaking characters, a unique culture, feeling and setting not found anywhere else in the USA, swamps, etc.

I think it would be interesting because New Orleans is so different and I love it, also love New Orleans music.

New Orleans. In where you can loose your fantasy on how the world should look, finally add underwater adventures, even rip-off Bioshock without being spotted and make a lot of good laughs about Fallout 3 and it's 'watered' main plot.

New Orleans... I kind of get the feeling that we're heavily generalizing it, and that our dreams are not up to par with reality.

Detroit is my number one pick but I have no faith in Bethesda doing it justice so it makes the theorizing pointless. Takes the fun out of it really.
