So Interplay is still around, and while their preview job offerings for artists and designers are gone (filled?), they're now looking for a technical director:
Interplay Entertainment is looking for a qualified, motivated Technical Director to join our team working on a next generation MMORPG. We are looking for a team player who can accurately anticipate the project’s needs; someone who can constructively contribute to the quality of the game as a whole and share in its vision; someone who is an accomplished manager, serving the needs of all of the Lead Programmers.
They also note this:
Though Interplay is currently working out of the Beverly Hills office [that is Herve Caen's house - NMA], development will be moving to the Orange County, California area in the near future.
Link: technical director job listing for Interplay.

I apologize for not putting this up myself. I knew you'd use just the right mix of seriousness and mockery though. Which you did.

Sincerely,

Its kind of like a scamming phoenix rising from its own ashes.

Isn't this joke over by now, where are the investors who are still after Herve's hide?

I'm not really mocking it at all. Interplay appears more or less to be back and no matter what the future holds, they're the ones producing a Fallout game with one of the original designers involved, not Bethesda.

There are no investors after Herve's hide. Never were. Creditors, yes, but he's paid his most direct outstanding dues, including back wages and IRS.

He's got investors from France, now

WHAT?! I figured he would never have the money to pay back all the money he owed just considering Interplay let alone the stuff he did after that. I guess you can believe it when you consider he got "investors", but who would invest in him after all the mistakes he's made? Certainly these "investors" knew alot of their money would go first to pay off his dues rather than make a game.

This is unbelievably insane...

 ,

They'll be moving to Orange County...isn't Obsidian Entertainment based there too? Conspiracy theory!

Oh, okay, guess I got that part wrong.
Well I kind of had hoped that the creditors finally made an end to Herve's schemes.

I kind of feel he has become the stereotype of the game industry businessman, he'll do everything to make money.

The heydays of computer gaming are long gone, in the 80's it cost nothing to make a great game & this is today's reality it takes several million of dollars to make 1 game...

Just like you and millions of people who will do anything to get money and put food on their table.

So uh ... how is that reality going to affect the ... um ... 9 year long ban on the discussion of FOOL, anyway ? Might be interesting to open that can of worms.

-Gerko, remembers at least one Fallout 3 forum that had banned Fallout Online discussions back in '99.

That reminded me of checking the descriptions on the fora here at NMA. Things changed, definitely.

Once FOOL is officially announced and reliably considered to be on its way, we'll open up a forum.

Whether it'll be a PoS-like forum or a serious one depends on the game

I'm far too biased towards any kind of MMORPG, especially after WOW (which I did play). Therefore, I'm very wary of any kind of such an undertaking, no matter who does that... 'cause I'm tired of the universes stuffed with endless idiotic quests and minor idiots, seemingly enjoying them (with due respect - everybody kills his free time as he sees fit).

But, if it's Interplay, I'll keep an eye on it, anyway.

The way I see it, even I could make a MMORPG that doesn't suck. I mean, design-wise. Because, well, the way most of them are designed now, well, it doesn't take pretty much anything to beat that...

Mechanics, that's another story, I'm talking about design here, and most of them are designed the same. There are some interesting bets out there, though, and I believe Interplay could pull off something interesting too...

That doesn't rely on COMBAT!

And the ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS are based there, too!
Hell of a conspiracy down there...
