Who would participate in making a fan-made FO3?

Oh, I'm all for helping, I could help with the logistics/scheduling side, lord knows I do it for the folks who report to me.

Someone had mentioned this project "going commercial". To my knowledge, that would be a huge no-no, as I can imagine Interplay coming down on the effort like a load of bricks.

One other thing to consider is that Peroxide was working on an Ultima 1 remake (http://www.peroxide.dk/era/). EA heard of it, and basically told them that was copyrighted IP, and they were not given permission to use it. They had to pull all references to Britannia, Lord British, etc, etc out of the game.

Something to consider.

Remember people, this is not getting hyped up about something, it's purely(PURELY) hypothetical. I thought of this thread because we were discussing the plausibility and availability of people participating if a fan-made FO3 would ever be done.

Zoe: It probably wouldn't be commercial, but it would go out into the open(otherwise it'd be kinda useless. ;))

Also, simply changing words by one letter would get rid of problems like that...

EDIT: I'm a Delphi programmer, and am starting to learn C++.

I have some experience with Delphi but only programing On-line Data access systems. I tried to do a 3d shooter with Delphi 6.0 in the university but is very difficult to make a good program that uses directx. there are many incompatibilities. There are some plugins for C++ builder that makes it a great tool for this type of application. Forget about the visual C++. Its not worth the time.

If you are going to do anything using C++, Delphi or VB (j/k) send a pm to me. I don't know anything about creating games but I have good programming skills.

BTW: I visited the http://mutantsrising.nma-fallout.com and I didn't saw any information about their language or membership.

I will send you a PM, EyeMaser7 IF it ever comes to that.

And who put this here? It was in GD for a reason. The reason being that more people see it there than here. Bah. *shrugs*

No offense meant, Sander. It's just that if I'm going to start enforcing the rules in GD I have to do it uniformly and fairly or not do it at all. It says in the index "General discussions goes in here, NO Fallout related talk is allowed in here!!", so I moved it here. It had a few days of exposure at least.

Meh, no problem, I kinda forgot about that rule. I guess I've been posting there so long(or that much) without problems that I completely forget about the rules. Meh....

Hmm... why doesn't everyone join Mutant's Rising? Or are we only referring to a game that's built from the ground up w/ a new engine, like Trinity? How many of you feel you have enough talent to make something like that?

id be helpin on mapping, artwork(like big fallout drawings and pictures), and id also be grinding you all about having the khans with........

just pm snake or altra or dack or some of the others, eh not me im not in charge of new memberships

I could do pretty mcuh anything. Levels, characters, whatever. I make my own mods for Quake III(for my own personal use). This may not be Quake III, but I know what I'm doing.

Only a person to start and coordinate the whole work and that idea may be not only a nice thought. I would like to see myself doing such mods.

I'm thinking the biggest problem would be coming up with a promising alpha to get the professional artists and programmers involved. I'd gladly pair up with any programmer to do "Megaton", but the graphics are too crappy to interest the skilled.

Is there still life in this project?

Hello everyone,

Is this fan version of Fallout 3 still alive or has the project been dropped. I myself am also interested in seeing a Fallout 3 made by fans (as there probably won't be an official FO3) and have been writing concepts, dialogues and characters for an attempt of my own I call ' Fan Fallout 3'

It was, and still is my hope that I would be able to gather some fellow fans who have the necessary skills to make this game into a reality for all fans to enjoy.

As I wanted to be as close as Fallout 3 as possible (using the released spoilers and documents as a basis) the story I came up with uses the same setting.

The player is a member of a Vault who has been sentenced to prison by his/her fellow Vault dwellers for a crime he/she might have, or not might have commited (this is for the player to decide, each choice has its own benefits and setbacks)

The player falls asleep in his cell but wakes up in a completely diferent cell. Before the player has time to orientate and find out where he/she is, warning sirens go off and the building in which the player is imprisoned is hit by grenates.

Through the impact shock the players is knocked unconscious, when he/she awakens again, he/she finds the prison door open and a large hole in one of the prison's walls through which the player can escape.

Once outside the player finds himself in a fight between the prison's defences and the unknown party that attacked it. An assailant tries to capture the player but the player manages to avoid this and flees into the wilderness.

From there on the player has to solve several mysteries:

Why was the player's Vault still sealed while the outside world is habitable again for humans.

How did the player get from the prison inside the vault to the prison complex in the middle of nowhere.

Who are the people that attacked the prison, and why are both they and the mainframe of the prison complex after him/her.

While trying to find answers on these questions, the player is relentless pursued by a robot known as the ' Pursuer' in the first part of the game.

The Pursuer is programmed to bring the prisoner back to the prison complex, and it can not be destroyed by conventional weaponry. It is merely temporary disabled and will repair itself within hours.

Getting rid of the pursuer is the first quest of the game.

Some people might recognise this from my earlier storyline, but I have made some changes to it since to make it feel more ' Fallout' like.

The concept of the cyborgs is now gone but robots still remain in the game concept although they are not the same threat as the robots in Fallout Tactics were.

Hope to get a reply on this.

Oh no.... not another jailbreak. Ineptplay already implemented that on BG2. It's so cliché. IIRC it was going to be the start of Fallout 3. I'm going to check that.

Did anyone started this project ? err... since we are talking about jailbreaks anyone here played the "jailbreak" mod for halflife? Is it good?

I still haven't heard the reply I had hoped to hear " Yes, the fan project to make a Fallout 3 is still alive".

To bad in a way but perhaps it gives me the opportunity to gather a group of skilled people around me and start my own attempt.

Hi EyeMaster7]/b], I used the ' Jail break' storyline as it was also intended for Ipay's Fallout 3 (on which my fan idea is based) but after that it probably takes its own route.

Anyway the prison does serve a purpose in the fan idea's storyline, its not just some start location.

There have been several responses on this topic when it was first opened. Are all the people that responded then still interested in working on such a project?

As I myself do not possess the skills yet to program or make maps I have started on the storyline, dialogue and other written material in order to make some start on my own attempt.

Hope to hear from any of you
