Why is Boston unhurt by the atomic bombs?

Las Vegas was targeted by 77 nukes. There's no way that the Chinese would only send ONE nuke to frikkin Boston.

Yeah that part makes less sense. The East Coast receiving less bombs, fine, but Boston is a big city. I'd say the 77 targeted at Las Vegas was probably gross overkill, however, but it still makes no sense that only 1 was slated to hit one of the biggest cities on the East Coast.
Las Vegas might be a special case since it was one of the most famous city in the US. Other cities that might received nukes close to that number is New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Boston should receives nukes smaller in number compared to those cities but clearly not ONE small.

But if you are making a game about life in a post nuclear wasteland wouldn't you set your game in a post nuclear wasteland?

One possible explanation for there only being a single nuke would be the Yangtze, a chinese nuclear submarine stranded in the harbor.
The captain says they hit a mine and just barely made it into the harbor, which would make it very likely it was that sub launching the nuke and the mine being the reason they couldn't launch anymore.

Several nukes hit the Boston area, as we see several nuclear craters in the game.

the glowing sea is said ot be the result of an especially high yield nuclear device in loading screens.

If it was high yield then why isn't Boston that badly hit? Or did they use all the strong missiles on the sea...

from a terminal "weve been in here a few weeks according to the date on the terminal.an explosion took out the tunnel to the parking garage just after I made my last log entry.its quieter, but every few hours we still hear explosions."

That means multiple explosions. Why is Boston so unharmed yet it clearly mentions multiple missiles.

in the terminal before that it says its been 3 days and we still hear explosions so its weird thr is multiple explosions days after and weeks after. if you wanna find the terminal its at university point

Thanks, and so there was continued bombing? How?

It was probably infrastructure and cars exploding, not further bombardment. I mean, the Great War's nuclear exchange was always described as lasting about two hours.

This is sort of a plot point in the BoS questline but....

In the glowing sea there is a nuclear warhead sotage/launch facility, one of the largest in the eastern U.S.

Its likely the high yield nuke was targeted in that area because they wanted to deny America the use of those bombs against them. Bombing the city is all fine and dandy, but theres not many military installations there.

I doubt it Bethesda think like that. It is probably another example of Bethesda writer ignoring the most basic canon of Fallout.

Or even non nuclear missiles/bombs right? What kind of damage was done by the citizens after the nuclear exchange? Was that ever documented or talked about in the any of the Fallouts or related media?
