Will a new game set in West Coast/Mojave ever be made?

None of the guys involved with the old Fallout games should touch this shit again. We need new IP's that haven't been whored out like some tramp on the streets. If anything they should have worked on Wasteland 2 to make it not suck as much...wait that kinda happened.

Ah do you support the death of Fallout? I don't for all of Beth's destruction I still have hope. In modders and that in the near future... or far... that Bethesda will discard the Fallout IP and some worthy soul will pick it up... I doubt it though.

By the time someone else gets the rights it will have been tarnished, rebooted, retconned, or raped. Take your pick.

Let me see... so hard to choose... well... well... umm... uhh... Dam you Toront it had to be that hard!

Well I suppose you're right, yet I still have hope! Modders my friend, modders.

There is always the chance that if someone picks up the IP after Bethesda they could do like many other reboots have donde and ignore the part where the previous owner fucked things up.

I don't really see Obsidian working on Fallout again but not because of bad blood with Bethesda-Zenimax (I don't believe there is any), or because the designers don't want to (Feargus said he's open to it and possibly others as well), but because they don't really gain much from it at this time. Obsidian has been really successful in their recent ventures and seems to be growing as a company pretty consistently. A new Fallout game could be way out of their current plans in terms of development time, budgeting, dealing with different standards due to much more marketing and promotion, etc - it's just a huge undertaking, and not because of Fallout specifically, it would be the same for any large franchise. Obsidian definitely seems to be comfortable in their current model of working mostly independently with the occasional partnership (like with inXile or with Allods) than developing games based on well known properties. And while this is all simply a conclusion taken from recent events rather than hard data, I'm pretty certain Obsidian makes a larger percentage of profits from Pillars of Eternity or Armored Warfare than KotOR2 or Fallout New Vegas.

Would I like to see another Obsidian-developed Fallout game? Sure. Would their head personnel like to be involved in such project? Probably. Does it fit in their current long term business plans? I don't think so, not at this moment.

I get this impression with FNV, haha. I don't remember any distinct call-backs to FO3 that entire game aside from the RobCo facility and some vague BoS dialogue. Unfortunately some of FO3's lore fuck-ups (like ghoul biology) were continued in the game, but oh well. The best part about Obsidian making more games is that it's super easy to ignore Bethesda's contributions since the two developers seem keen on working on different coasts of the USA.

I hope it stays that way. I have a new theory, that the East Coast was bombed to Oblivion (pun intended) and that the events of Fallout 3 were dreamed up by Veronica while taking LSD.

The biggest one is just the existence of the Wasteland Survival Guide as the skillbook for Survival (same art asset as the one Moira gives you at the end of her quest, just scaled down to be the size of the other books.) I'm not sure what you're alluding to about the RobCo facility, since it's not like FO3 invented RobCo, as Mr. House's company did manufacture the Pip-Boy.

ED-E also has his origins in Fallout 3.

It's going to be a long journey, my little friend. You'll have to fly very far, and fly very fast. Can you do that?

I know you can. Be careful out there, ED-E. Maybe I'll see you again some day.
