Your favourite New Vegas character?

Christine. I can't quite explain why, but this was the one character in the game that truly felt like she became the PC's friend. It was heartbreaking that her 'good' ending consisted of her standing vigil over the Sierra Madre, completely isolated from the rest of humanity. More than anyone else, I wished I could bring her back to civilization and let her have some semblance of a normal life outside of Elijah or the Brotherhood.

^- this. Very much this.

Graham. Mobius being a close second.

From the main game, I'm going have to say Victor.

I agree. But there seems to be some fatherly protective bond you develop with her if you select the right things to say to her. It really created a light in the dark with all the tragedy of Sierra Madre occurring around you. Keeping her alive really created a motivation for my character.

I liked all the companions, particularly: Boone (good to hear Jason Marsden's voice again), Cass (Cassidy's daughter!) and Arcade Gannon (humanized the Enclave -- so much better than in Fallout 3.) I also liked Daisy Whitman for the same reason.

Doc Mitchell - salt of the earth. Christine - very evocative past and outcome.

Beatrix, the ghoul dominatrix in the Followers settlement. Julie Farkas. The King, who I was absolutely certain I'd hate, but ended up seeming a decent fellow.

That one Khan girl in the armory at Red Rock Canyon who sells massive amounts of ammo. She's awesome. "They tell me I'm supposed to sell you weapons." Indeed.

During the gala activation sequence, there's a dialogue option where you can just squeeze her hand before parting. I found that especially moving because all of her communication at that point is through gesture and body language, and there's so much meaning that can be conveyed by that one action, but it's left entirely up to the player's imagination.

For me, it felt more like a sibling thing than father/daughter, but the important thing is that it's something other than just two veteran bad-asses splitting up to take down the bad guy (though that's an option, too). You're actually given the option of playing a role, and it means whatever you want it to mean.

I'll give Obsidian credit for trying to do something like that with Ulysses, even if I think they fell very far short. Maybe it's impossible to do it to the extent the tried, but I admire the ambition and the effort. It would be an interesting game mechanic to try on a larger scale - what if the reaction of the NPC and the entire narrative structure of the DLC was subtly altered by in-game decisions.

Dala because i know what it's like to have an unhealthy obsession with teddy bears, and she cumms batteries

No shit? The nerdy neurotic narcissist myron is the grumbly grizzled boone? I may have to change my answer once I digest this information

I kind of wish you could have brought her back with you too, but for a different reason. I would have loved to reunite Veronica and Christine. Instead I get to mention that I killed Elijah, which was pretty nice too actually. Help give the poor girl some closure is all I ask.

I also liked Cass quite a bit, and she was who I usually hung around with after I finished Veronica and Arcade's quests. ED-E in Lonesome road was kind of fun to have around too, kind of like a floating R2-D2.

ED-E would have stayed in my party more if he didn't wander off and die for no reason. Cass reminded me of the annoying alcoholics who always talk about how much they can drink. The first time she got lippy with me I almost shot her, but I ended up liking her. I would have rather had Christine in my party permanently, but I kinda like missing her. It makes you appreciate the character more I guess.

Cass kind of endeared herself to me during the course of the game. She started out pretty damn crass as you said, but after she saved me by blasting away a deathclaw that was bearing down on my ass, well she was okay in my books.

Cass won ehr place in my game the first time I talked to her, too bad I had to wait until I was already in Freeside to be able to recruit her. And ED-E just grew on me, specially after getting his laser upgrade.

My only problem with ED-E was every time I Fast Traveled to certain places he immediately ran off into the damn mountains. I loved him otherwise, but I had to leave him at the Lucky 38, so that he wouldn't die usually. I know that was one of the bugs, but it sucked because I liked the little guy. I really liked how he was used in Lonesome Road too. It was a pleasant surprise seeing an old friend there. Damn. Now I want to play New Vegas again.

Joshua Graham, and I haven't even played the DLCS yet!

From the Main Game? I guess Either Sunny Smiles or Orion Moreno.

"I was a Soldier. Why the hell do you care? Get out of my house!"

Cracks me up every time.

I liked House quite a bit. He was a flawed man, but with vision, and he did what needed to be done to see it through. I didn't agree with his methods, but I loved his character. Also, I'm a bit of a Rene Auberjonois fanboy (Odo lives!), he played House with just the right mix of visionary zeal, sardonic condescension, and the caginess born of being fully aware of his limitations.

From the DLCs, I'd probably pick The Survivalist from Honest Hearts. He wasn't a game entity, but he was a character in the narrative sense, and his story was well-told and, IMO, one of the most compelling things in the game. It was without a doubt the best thing about that particular DLC.

I didn't think to mention him, but I agree with you. I also think it was one of the most compelling things in the game. I went out of my way to find out everything I could about the Survivalist. That was the only reason I kept playing Honest Hearts really. I rooted for him the whole time, and smiled whenever he took out the bad guys. I actually "cared" about the character. I think I identified with him because of his inability to give up, despite having every reason to do so. I felt sorry for him when he was lonely again after finding a little happiness. In the end it left me a little bummed out, but that's what the wasteland is all about. I guess I'm torn between Christine and the Survivalist. They were definitely the best of the DLC characters IMO.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it is hard for me to choose my favorites in New Vegas because there were so many great characters. Sure as hell beat Fallout 3 in that department - I can think of more characters that I hated than liked..

I think it really says something when a character made of pixelated letters makes you care more about him then a mega evil giant dragon hell bent to eat the world and hate on gays and nigas. Fuck, Bethesda is a turd.
